When life (read: stress) gets to you, how do you tend to relieve it?

Sex? Drinking? Snapping at people? Keeping busy? Doing housework? Other?

I see some people withdraw from people to lick their wounds, or clear their heads, while others seem to be more proactive about it - not always in a healthy manner though. Some drink, some gamble, some get on an anonymous message board and bite people's heads off. Some go to the gym, or for a walk, or to a friend's kitchen table to commiserate.

What do you do to relieve the load on your mind?

work out, write or paint, open up my bike on a windy country road...

I like to get outside when things seem to be too much.

When I can't, I post a lot of fluff on an anonymous board.

Hmmmm

I guess I have spent a large part of the last year and a half stressed!

;):D

I just walk away from someone if they are bothering me. It isn't worth it. Give me a week or two and I've forgotten them ... if its a thing thats bothering me... a problem... I keep working at it til its solved... relentlessly... then I collapse in a sigh of relief when its solved, and go on to something else.

LOL! I posted more when I was less stressed - now it seems that when I do, I'd be better off not having done so. Seems taking out stress on strangers is my way of dealing with it.

Sufi - yours sounds way more healthy.

Girly - your stress is due for a big relief soon isn't it? ;)

I sometimes withdraw, do some reading and thinking. I write a lot too. Then, when I start to feel a little less stressed, I will usually head back out again to commiserate with friends.

Reaction

I have a very stressfull job so i deal with it everyday.
1. I turn off mobile for about 1 hour daily ( afternoon )
2. Secretary lies i am not in the office.
3. Have lunch while reading nonsence.
4. Ignore people that are satisfied by passing you the mess.
5. Sleep a bit more.
6. Eat properly ( not much just the proper quality and quantity )
7. Everyday try to do something you really like .
8. Have good sex.

:rose:  :rose:

Sex is an excellent stress reliever, but everybody knows that.

Hot baths or long, hot showers are also wonderful.

I use to smoke to much.. now I bite peoples heads off.

Ugh. I do both still. :(

I might have to take some of these suggestions. I was thinking of using beer as my stress reducer, but since I already drink enough of it, it might not be the best option. I went and joined yet another league, just in case I wasn't quite busy enough, what with school, work, and darts. 3 days of school, 3 days of work, darts twice a week, and now pool once a week - and baseball season soon to begin. I'm a dope.
:)

Girly - you two better have fun, damnit!

I fire up the chainsaw, dust off the hockey mask, and visit the neighbors. Seriously, I think we all have ways of dealing with certain things.

For my two cents (canadian, BTW) I do some sort of physical exercise or some other task that doesn't require too much thought. I also remind myself that getting through today is all I have to worry about and that tomorrow will take care of itself.

You're gonna be fine, Canuck. Except for the bet you're going to lose, that is.

I crash on my couch, stretch out and listen to music... maybe catch a few Z's..

Hey its a long season.

Til then, I'll loan you my chainsaw. I figure you already have a hockey mask.

Just promise to sharpen the blade when you're done.

I tend to use a really sharp knife instead. It's easier to handle.

How woefully unpoetic.

Maybe a spear gun instead?

Think potential movie rights here.

But who would play me? I used to get told I looked like Nicole Kidman, but I've changed my hair since then. Before that it was what's-her-name that played Mindy.

Hmm, I'll have to do some thinking on this.

Pam Dawber?

No. You do not look like Pam Dawber.

Hey, another idea. In keeping with your Norse name, maybe dress up in armor and do in folks with a sword or spear.

When you get busted, tell the police that you're a valkyre sending brave warriors to Valhalla, cause Odin told you to.

Its a thought.

Then you can be played by Pam Anderson, or another blonde with large breasts.
