They probably are, and if you were having problems flirting back, they may have assumed you weren't interested in them. I have no idea how to fix it as I tend to do the same thing. A guy (or girl) comes over and flirts at me my first response is usually something along the lines of "what are talking to ME for?" sigh And it's funny, flirting online can be easier than offline.
