Uh, I didn't read it, what did it say?

What it ought to say is thank you to Laurel and Manu for giving us such a wonderful place to play.

Happy Christmas and a prosperous New Year to them.

In keeping with the theatrical connotations of the word:

“Angels of absurd on high
Sweetly archived in the cy
Bernetic bowels of the net,
Proved through Feedback letters sent.

Euphoria, my story-a, phantasmagoria,
Unsuspecting readers deceived.”

You said what I should have thought to say myself and you said it well!

Laurel and Manu, thank you for a fun, if hectic, year! The new year looms ahead, bright with promise.

Is my request being ignored? Is it always like this on this forum? Sorry. I don't post too often, here.

The only ones that can actually delete threads are moderators, and this board doesn't have one, so, no you're not being ignored, I promise.

Merry Christmas, Laurel & Manu!

Thanks for such as awesome place for us to try our wings as authors, and meet such wonderful people!

Hear, hear. *raising my glass*.

'Tis most definitely a place of great jollity, much fun, and the sweetest, sexiest, most supportive people in the world.

We are not being discourteous or ignoring you. I am sorry if you have been upset by the change to the thread.

It is impossible to delete a thread or a post in the Author's Hangout. You/we cannot change the title either. All any of us can do is edit out the content of any posts we have made personally. You/We cannot edit other people's posts or any quotes they may have made from your post.

Once a thread has served its purpose it is fairly usual to use it for other things. The title of this thread reminded me how much we owe to Laurel and Manu for hosting Literotica.

We have to be careful when starting a new thread because it cannot be deleted. It could be resurrected tomorrow or many months hence. If we start a new thread by mistake then we would do as you have done and delete the content of the first post.

It is the same with duplicate posts to a thread. If Lit or your server is playing up you might get the same post repeated. It is customary to edit out the content of the duplicated posts replacing it with a couple of words of explanation such as '**** double post'

I hope that explains the situation.

Thanks for that tip Og .. I double posted yesterday on another thread and wasn't sure exactly what to do .. so I went in and added to the second post that I accidently posted twice. I see now that I was correct in doing so.

Manu and Laurel was gonna delete it as per your request. But we all said "No, no, don't do that, we wanna talk to songcatcher!!!"

Double Posts

I think the record in the AH is 5 posts when one was intended.

There is a sub-routine that doesn't let you post twice within 20 seconds but if you are on a flaky dial-up it may take longer than that to confirm that your post has been accepted.

Do not worry about accidental double posts. They can happen to anyone. Just edit out the content of the second (third...) one.

The embarrassing one is to hit the 'New Thread' button when you meant just to reply to a previous post on an existing thread. The thread you have started begins with a non sequitur. And yes - I've done that more than once.

Songcatcher, just lie back and enjoy it!

Laurel and Manu, what they all said: thanks and best wishes for the season.

I'll echo what fifty5 said, who was, in turn, echoing what everybody else, well, just about everyone except, but we won't get into that, had said, that is, written regarding seasonal salutations. (I dare you to diagram that sentence.)

Merry Christmas to Laurel and Manu, and to all AH habitues (yes, even CV) wherever you are, a good night.

Er, that's three words (if you include the deleted expletive).
