in the process of moving our offices, my coworkers took a bunch of trash to the dump and discovered the local dump man (is that PC?- heh) tearing apart the dumpster for kittens.

My coworker brought 3 babies back to the office. They are adorable. I thought of you immediately!

Oh that's so sad! How can anyone NOT think that all life is precious? If no one will take them, I'll give you my Nana's addy in TN, and she'll take them!

Myst

they are solid black and about 3 weeks old. I can hear them mewing all the way back in my office. :)

My coworker has chosen to adopt them. We were giving her advice on what to do, how to keep them warm, etc. and she said... "Stop! Don't tell me how to raise my children" heh

Too bad I'll be out of the office the rest of the afternoon. Having them around to feed and play with today would soothe my bad attitude.

three weeks!!!! Oh man... she's going to have to bottle-feed them ever few hours, and make sure they know how to go to the bathroom (mother cats stimulate it my rubbing their little butts). I would suggest a vet check-up, too. (And I'm an expert, so if she bugs you about minding your own business, tell her you consulted an expert!)

(If she wants the kittens to live, she'll want to know all about these things)

we're taking turns bottle feeding them now. One of them had their tail smashed in the dumpster... but it is the most rambunctious of the lot. She has them in a box with a blanket and is trying to keep them warm. The vet will see them tomorrow and until then she has to keep them away from her other animals in case of worms, feline lukemia, etc.

dehydration is a big deal with kittens, too. If they start to get lethargic at all... rush them to the vet!!!! And congratulations and GOOD LUCK!!! :D

meow

thats so cute .... 3 little lives saved :)

my cat got her tail squashed not sure how she did it but she had to have the tip of it chopped off at the vets ... she's fine though now

Myst - thanks for all the information. I'm printing out the info on the website to give to her right now. :)

L'il baby kitties in the office.. hehehe... adorable.

AWWWWWW!!! My little heart is going squish-squish...I can't even imagine who would be so heartless as to leave any living creature in the dumpster like that. But I am so happy that you guys were able to rescue them. I'm going to go home and hug my own little kittens now. *sniffle*

Some humans just aren't human - at the very least the person who dumped them could have taken them somewhere to have them humanely put to sleep instead of being so cruel.

LOL. That's just like me. I love it.

Tell your co worker that the Starfish says they recieve a big Gold Star for their kitty-atarian efforts.

OMG! How sad! That's so good that you and your coworkers are taking care of them. The question is when do we get pictures? :)

kitty update

2 girls and 1 boy. 2 weeks old. They slept soundly all night. They are being kept warm with a heating pad and blankets. My coworker also put in a teddy bear and a ticking clock. So far everything is going fine.

Laurel - I'll see what I can do about the pics. :)
