Laurel, Is Mike Tyson Totally Brain Dead?

Laurel, you're our boxing source, so I'm just asking. Is it Mike Tyson, or is everyone else that permits him to be such a useless, appalling man?

I watched a bit of his most recent obscenity laced media conference, particulalry astounded at his answer to a question about not seeing his kids in months: "None of your business, white boy..."

I suppose part of it is an act, or its just Mike being Mike and he's a fighter, after all, not a ballet dancer, but I'm still fascinated at how none of his racist, misogyinistic, mysanathropic ranting is ever punished -- in fact, we seem perfectly willing to let it all go, and even reward him with attention.

If I ever turned to a company of reporters and said, "None of your business, black boy" you could count on one finger how many days my career would last.

So, is Tyson really that ugly a human, or is he really just so humored that he knows he can get away with it?

Your question DCL was whether or not Mike Tyson was brain dead. Well, I just happened to have witnessed that press release on the news tonight and after viewing your post, I decided to conduct a little research on the matter. And it appears in the American Medical Journal that in order for one to be considered brain dead, one must first possess a brain. Aw well, that excludes the "Tysonator". I feel that if they can kick Rocker to the side for the remarks that he made, Tyson should be given the same royal treatment that Rocker had gotten.

I'm not the expert here - Deborah's the reigning queen of the sweet science. IMHO Tyson is a sick, nasty stain on the sport of boxing. He's a freak show, and that's why he gets as far as he does. His PPVs pull in millions because everyone coughs up the $50 just to see what Crazy Ol' Mike will do next. I've never paid for a Tyson PPV, and never will. He's a complete psycho. If it weren't for boxing, he'd be in jail serving several consecutive life sentences after going berserk on some poor McD's counter people when they forgot to "hold the pickle". He's evil, evil, evil, bad, bad, bad.

Mike Tyson is one sick fuck. No way should John Rocker be compared to Tyson, who is a convicted felon, and one day no doubt will commit yet another atrocious act he can not slough off and will end up back in the slammer. Oh yeah, but if Tyson beats Galotta he'll end up with a mega big bucks fight with Lennox Lewis, brought to you by that other convicted felon, Don King.

Speaking of Don King, I saw an interview on Up Close on ESPN with Gary Miller about a week ago where King compared himself to the great biblical hero Samson. It was a hair thing. The only thing Don King and Samson have in common is the jawbone of an ass.

Laurel, did you catch the Morales and Corrales fights a couple weeks ago? Them two dudes are both awesome. Very interesting if they ever match up with the Prince or each other, and throw Mayweather and Barrera into the mix. These are the guys who should be getting the PPV gigs, not Mike Tyson.

And where is Golden and what's he up to with his boxing thing? Hey Golden, I'm talking at you.

In retrospect Deborah, I think Mike has been arrested once since his release. It was for a parole violation and I think he had gotten into a bar fight or something. Also, you're right about the comparison between Don King and Sampson. There is no comparison. Sampson had a perm in his hair.............LOL.

Dixon, do the words "pugilistic dementia" mean anything to you? There's a guy at my work who was an amateur boxer for several years, and he has no poise, decorum, intellect, or any other redeeming qualities either. So my next question would be...does being a boxer make you an asshole, or being an asshole make you a boxer?

personally I think he's a psycho; I'd be amazed if he lasts the proverbial three score years and ten; and he'll be off the boxing map and history as soon as people stop paying for the PPVs...

I was talking last week with Chris Eubank (yeah, I know, name-droppers make you sick don't they?) who is merely barking but harmless; he is Tyson's buddy - went to see him, oh a dozen times in jail? Did you guys in the US get the piece on TV before the Tyson-Francis fight when Chris was asked by the UK presenter for his views on Tyson as a person and straightaway went into a justification of the Washington incident with a ramble on oral versus penetrative sex - that was the end of HIS career as a prime-time TV boxing commentator!

Mike Tyson gave a press conference and no one covered it? Seems like there's always someone around like him and someone to cover him and someone to read about him. As for me, he's entitled to his opinion. I just don't listen or do I care about what he says or if he continues to exist.

Who knows? Maybe ole Mike is posting on this BB as a guest. I can remember some pretttty dumb posts lately.
