Las Vegas shooting

*we'll probably never know*
Which won't stop the speculation and conspiratology. Possibilities:

* The asshole may have left notes somewhere.
* The notes may or may not be released, or faked.
* The asshole did or didn't convert to some ideology.
* Cops/FBI are suppressing a hideous or distressing truth.
* The targets he skipped form a pattern. Has it been decoded?
* Nefarious agents from somewhere controlled his brain.
* He's a rich gambler. He made The Bet af a Lifetime.
* He was deep deep cover, part of the Obama plot.
* Has his ET-alien anal implant been recovered?

Again, conspiracy theories lead to insanity, so beware of all the speculators, lest they slip a cog and shout, "Eggplant! Eggplant! Eggplant!" whilst masturbating.

A 2015 study of guns in Chicago, co-authored by Cook, found that more than 60 percent of new guns used in Chicago gang-related crimes and 31.6 percent used in non-gang-related crimes between 2009 and 2013 were bought in other states. Indiana was a particularly heavy supplier, providing nearly one-third of the gang guns and nearly one-fifth of the non-gang guns.

Other evidence corroborates this — a 2014 Chicago Police Department report found that Indiana accounted for 19 percent of all guns recovered by the department between 2009 and 2013.

New firearms trace data from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives released last week likewise shows that Illinois as a whole faces a massive influx of guns. Of around 8,700 firearms recovered in Illinois and for which the bureau found a source state, more than half came from out of state — 1,366, nearly 16 percent, came from Indiana alone.

By comparison, 82 percent of guns recovered in Indiana and traced were from within Indiana, suggesting that criminals in that state don't have to cross state lines, like those in Illinois, to get their weapons.

How dangerous people get their guns in America

While criminals typically do not buy their guns at a store, all but a tiny fraction of those in circulation in the United States are first sold at retail by a gun dealer – including the guns that eventually end up in the hands of criminals.

That first retail sale was most likely legal, in that the clerk followed federal and state requirements for documentation, a background check and record-keeping. While there are scofflaw dealers who sometimes make under-the-counter deals, that is by no means the norm.

If a gun ends up in criminal use, it is usually after several more transactions. The average age of guns taken from Chicago gangs is over 11 years. The gun at that point has been diverted from legal commerce. In this respect, the supply chain for guns is similar to that for other products that have a large legal market but are subject to diversion.

In the case of guns, diversion from licit possession and exchange can occur in a variety of ways: theft, purchase at a gun show by an interstate trafficker, private sales where no questions are asked, straw purchases by girlfriends and so forth.

Uhh, Indiana can't bans gun sales to non-residents. It's a federal law. And it's already in existence.

Try to at least have a clue as to what you're talking about.

Whatever happened to States Rights?

And if you try and bring your gun to Massachusetts, it will be taken from you.

Watching opening credits for a flick and "a mandalay pictures film" appeared...

MGM Resorts International really needs to change the name of Paddock's perch ASAP.

Is Marilou Danley Muslim?

As the FBI continues to sift through the past of Las Vegas shooter Stephen Paddock, an investigative focus has developed on how he earned money and the recent travels of Paddock and his girlfriend, Marilou Danley, law enforcement officials familiar with the probe told Yahoo.

At least two points of interest were recent trips taken to Dubai, Spain and the Philippines, as well as more than 200 reports detailing large financial transactions Paddock had made at casinos since 2014. Although Danley has family in Dubai and the Philippines, sources told Yahoo that the FBI is seeking to determine the details of all overseas trips involving either Paddock or his girlfriend, as well as any financial transactions that may have taken place on the trips.

As authorities search for a motive, Paddock’s finances have become a significant focal point — most notably, 200-plus casino or wire transactions by Paddock that were flagged for review by FinCEN, the U.S. government’s Financial Crimes Enforcement Network, which collects data to identify potential money laundering or covert terrorism financing. The FBI is also reviewing transactions by Danley that were flagged by FinCEN. According to a source familiar with the probe, the various transactions date back to 2014 and are being vigorously investigated. The sources said one transaction that has drawn significant attention is a $100,000 transfer to the Philippines by either Paddock or Danley prior to Sunday’s shooting. Danley was in the Philippines when Paddock opened fire on the crowd in Las Vegas.

An estimated 450,000 folks of at least Filipino descent live in Dubai (United Arab Emirates), making-up around 21-22% of its population. I got tired (quickly) of searching for how many of them are Muslim.

Nor is there anything remotely supportable by your vile accusation that people who support the law, "empower, enable, own, perpetuate, or love" the mass slaughter of innocents prohibited by it.

It is such a monstrously obscene accusation that it compels me to say once again: FUCK YOU!!
Struck a bit close to home, hey?

Obviously, widely available, uncontrolled personal weapons lead to shootings. Duh. 2nd enthusiasts keep deadly weapons common, mundane. Acceptance of heavily-armed civilians in our public spaces -- trivial. Oh, it's just another gun, ho hum. Sure, everybody should be armed. Too bad about that kid reaching into grandma's purse. Too bad about shooting the teenager sneaking home late. Too bad the guy pulled a Glock in the bar, or a few AKs in the park.

The citizenry of other nations widely seen as 'free' do not accept uncontrolled firearms floating about. Political pressure from gun-junkies blocks meaningful controls in USA. They, their politicians, and compliant voters, perpetuate the madness. US citizens accept slaughter and ubiquitous weaponry and are thus complicit -- otherwise we'd force changes to law.

Doesn't matter. It's too late. USA won't change peacefully. The madness will continue. Schoolkids, concert-goers, partiers, bystanders -- there will never be never too many victims.

Aside from the Island of Luzon the other 7640 islands that comprise the Philippine archipelago contain huge numbers of Muslims.

The Philippines is mostly Roman Catholic, as the result of the long colonization by Spain. Only about 6% are Muslims and most of them are from Mindanao, where there is a group of Muslim criminals somewhat similar to ISIS. In terms of population, Luzon is the biggest island.

You're probably confusing the Philippines with Indonesia. Common error for racists.

What a terrible shame for our country to allow this to happen on our American soil. The real tragedy is that this type of massacre will only become more commonplace.

Not at all, his response was entirely appropriate considering your vile accusation.

We are not other nations. As a matter of fact we are 17th on the list of crime compared to other industrialized nations. That bastion of gun banning, the UK, is number one.

Another fact is that as gun ownership has increased, crime has decreased. Unlike John Lott I will not state as a matter of fact that the two are directly tied, but the casual relationship can't be ignored.

And don't try to blow the smoke up others ass that you're all that concerned about your fellow citizens that it's all in "their best interests." It's your own fear that drives the thought that a gunless society is the best way to go.

The purpose of having firearms isn't to go hunting. It's to cause fear in the mind of the criminals and the government, two classes that are often interchangeable. And BOTH of those classes are acutely aware of that fact. The gun is the ultimate antidote to either's attempt to gain power over the citizen.

Read this dotard;

"A Nation of Cowards"

It's short enough and to the point.

^^ won't get the fuck out of the USA and escape to a socialist paradise.
