What about the 94 and 95 World Champion Rocket's teams he played on?

What ever.. So Horry is a HOF'er then...

Not like it matters anyway. It's basketball for cripes sake. They could just play four three minute quarters and it would still take just as long to play with all the time outs.

yeah, thats what i was going to say. horry won twice, before shaq ever got a ring.

as for phil.. your funny.. the guys only won 9 championships.. of course hes a shitty coach.

He won 6 with a Jordan led Bulls team, then 3 with a Shaq led Lakers team. Lets put Zen boy on the Blazers or Sonics and see how many he wins.

That's right.. he wouldn't ever be on those teams. Just like he won't coach USA unless it's the olympics and all the star players are playing.

It's ok to like the Fakers.. Just please admit when they are exposed as no more than a one man team

do you remember how bad the lakers were before phil came into the picture? how many championships had shaq won? remember how they got their asses handed to them everytime they got into the playoffs? i cant remember what happened the first year phil came on.. wait..its coming to me.. thats right..they won they whole damn thing.. do you think they wouldve done that w/ kurt rambis? mike dunleavy?, del harris? magic? i kinda doubt it.

and yeah, if phil had been coaching the blazers im sure theyd at least have one championship by now. he brings talent that cant win, or figure it out, together.. sure, phils not going to go in to memphis and turn the griz into a championship team overnight..noone can..

god this is fun..

All it took was someone with some respect in the NBA and that was a "proven" winner to tell Kobe and Shaq to quit their bitching. Kurt Rambis? Del Harris? I'm not much of a b-ball fan, but did either of them coach a team before they tried to coach the Lakers?

Even so, year after year we keep hearing how the two can't get along. If Zen boy was any kind of coach, his first season would have been the first and only time we would have heard "Can Shaq and Kobe exist on the same team?" Yet it keeps happening.

Although maybe not this year because as we've seen, the Lakers can't hardly win shit without Shaq even when Kobe drops 40+ .. If Bryant hasn't figured out by now that he and the Lakers NEEDS Shaq, then nothing will ever set him straight.

kurt rambis, no. dunleavy, yeah, alot , and hes pretty good. del harris has coached many teams, and has actually had a pretty succesfull career doing it.. he led the lakers to a couple 60 win seasons as their head coach, but they got thumped in the playoffs.. shaq and kobe both have huge egos, it takes someone like phil to bring that together.. find a team that doesnt have this problem.. you just dont hear about it as much since no other team in the leauge has won 3 consecutive titles.

GAME DAY RECAP Friday, December 06
Bryant scores 21 of game-high 27 points in fourth

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- After being booed off their own floor at halftime and trailing by 27 points to start the fourth quarter, the Los Angeles Lakers looked finished.

The Mavericks had trouble matching up with Shaquille O'Neal once again.

Sure didn't turn out that way in the end.

Instead, the Lakers pulled off the second-biggest fourth-quarter comeback in NBA history to stun the Dallas Mavericks 105-103 Friday night.

"We choked, just flat-out choked,'' said Dallas guard Nick Van Exel, whose team was outscored 44-15 in the fourth quarter.

The Lakers rallied from a 27-point deficit at the start of the final period led by Kobe Bryant, who scored 21 of his 27 in the final 12 minutes -- including a turnaround jumper to snap a 103-all tie with eight seconds remaining.

The Lakers shot an amazing 16-of-18 from the field and hit eight of 11 free throws in the fourth.

"We could have easily just rolled over and I don't think anybody would have really been too surprised at that because we've been playing so bad,'' Bryant said. "It shows the heart of a champion still beats inside of us. We're fighters.''

Bryant's heroics came after he pulled his groin in the third quarter when the Lakers trailed by 30. Trainer Gary Vitti was on his way to tell coach Phil Jackson when Bryant yanked him aside.

"Gary was going to rat me out,'' Bryant said. "I had to jerk his arm out of the socket and say, `I'm all right, man. Don't snitch on me. Let me play.'''

Michael Finley missed a 3-pointer with one second remaining for the Mavs, who have lost 24 consecutive games to the Lakers in Los Angeles over the last 12 years.

"We stopped playing. We had a hard time scoring and we were terrible defensively in the fourth quarter,'' said Dallas guard Steve Nash, who had 22 points. "It was too easy in the first half and too difficult in the fourth.''

The Lakers joined the Indiana Pacers as the only teams to beat Dallas this season.

"This is indeed one of the toughest losses I can remember as a coach,'' said Dallas coach Don Nelson, who has 40 years of NBA experience. "We don't normally lose games when we're ahead. This is an exception to the role by an exceptional team.''

Shaquille O'Neal added 26 points and 11 rebounds for the three-time NBA champions, whose fourth-quarter comeback was one shy of the NBA record of 28 points by the Milwaukee Bucks against Atlanta on Nov. 25, 1977.

"We played better defense. We had a lot of intensity and we never gave up,'' O'Neal said. "The first 20 games have been really bad. It really couldn't get any worse. We just kept playing, kept fighting, kept shooting.''

In addition, the comeback from a 28-point halftime deficit was the second-largest second-half rally in league history, trailing only Utah's comeback from a 34-point deficit against Denver on Nov. 29, 1996, according to the Elias Sports Bureau.

Van Exel's 25 points led five Dallas players in double figures. The Mavs, who made 15 3-pointers, had their four-game winning streak snapped, but their 17-2 record is the best in the NBA.

"It's shocking,'' Dallas center Raef LaFrentz said.

Dirk Nowitzki had 21 points and 12 rebounds for the Mavs, whose last win against the Lakers in Los Angeles was on Dec. 12, 1990.

"For us to have a chance to beat them in a playoff situation, we have to win here,'' Nelson said before the game. "And if we're able to do it, I don't even know what it means because they're not playing like they will play in another month or two. It's a big game for them to try and turn their season around.''

Perhaps that's exactly what the Lakers did.

After throwing the ball away and shooting barely 40 percent over three quarters, the Lakers rallied in the fourth. They opened with a 21-4 run to get within 10 with 6:55 remaining.

The Mavs were clearly rattled by the Lakers' surge, with Van Exel committing two straight turnovers before Nowitzki's errant pass traveled across the court and landed in the seats.

By then, the Lakers trailed 96-93.

Nash and Bryant exchanged layups before Nash was fouled by O'Neal and made both free throws for a 100-95 lead with 2:03 left.

Bryant scored on a driving layup and then Brian Shaw hit a 3-pointer to tie the game at 100 with 1:28 left. The Lakers took their first lead of the game, 101-100, on a free throw by Robert Horry.

But Van Exel hit a 3-pointer -- his fifth -- to put Dallas back in front 103-101 with 1:04 left.

Shaw hit a jumper for the final tie at 103. Nash missed and a jump ball was called despite one referee signaling a foul on the Lakers. LaFrentz won the tip over Devean George, but Nash turned the ball over to O'Neal. Bryant scored the game-winning basket as the fans erupted in applause and screams.

Game notes
Dallas F Eduardo Najera wasn't with the team because of a sore left knee. ... The Lakers are 1-10 when trailing at halftime this season. ... The Lakers activated F-C Samaki Walker from the injured list and made room on the roster by waiving C Soumaila Samake. Walker missed six games after straining his lower back during a 111-99 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks on Nov. 24.

I have to admit I was totaly wrong.. I thought the Lakers were brutal without Shaq but going to go on a tear with him.

How wrong I was.

The Fakers are BRUTAL without Shaq and only MEDIOCRE with Shaq.

5-4 since he came back? Hell even Shaq with a big ol "no comment" himself said the team around him isn't that good. A "no comment" from the big Shazzam himself when asked how good his team is? Not a good sign Faker fans..

Hey now I kinda like Vlade (or how ever the hell you spell it..)

Yeah he flops.. But he comes by it honestly.

Plus it pisses Shaq off to no end... for that reason alone I think it's cool.

GAME DAY RECAP Sunday, December 08
O'Neal, Bryant lead way as Lakers win back-to-back

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
RECAP | BOX SCORE | GAME LOG | GAMECAST

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- The Los Angeles Lakers parlayed the momentum from their amazing comeback against Dallas into a 110-101 victory over the Utah Jazz and put themselves into position to win three consecutive games for the first time this season.

Kobe Bryant got past Utah's Andrei Kirilenko and finished with 25 points and 14 assists for the Lakers.

Shaquille O'Neal had 32 points and 11 rebounds and Kobe Bryant added 25 points and 14 assists as the Lakers posted consecutive victories for the first time in two weeks Sunday night.

''We're back to playing Lakers' style of basketball which is high-intensity defense, trying to get some easy opportunities, and because of that our rhythm is coming back and the game is more fun,'' Bryant said. ''Right now it's just important to establish a momentum, see if we can put together a nice little stretch.''

Bryant showed no ill effects from the pulled groin he sustained Friday against the Mavericks when he scored 21 points in the final 12 minutes.

He punctuated the victory Sunday with a driving dunk with four seconds left.

''My groin was pretty stiff when I went back in there for the last time. I couldn't really put it into fourth, fifth gear,'' Bryant said. ''Tonight was a game I was really worried about. It seemed I was able to play pretty well. My range of motion was pretty good.''

The Lakers' 27-point fourth-quarter rally was the second-biggest in NBA history. They've now won back-to-back games for just the third time this season. They'll go for three in a row Tuesday at Golden State.

O'Neal in particular was on his game early, scoring 16 points in the first quarter. It was one of his most productive outings since returning from foot surgery Nov. 22.

''It looks like he's getting himself in game shape. When you have a rest day between games it helps,'' Lakers coach Phil Jackson said. ''Shaq was good and Kobe, at times, was terrific.''

Andrei Kirilenko scored a career-high 30 points and made all 10 of his free throws. Matt Harpring added 24 points for Utah, which had won nine of its previous 10 games.

''We couldn't have beat anyone the way we played,'' Utah coach Jerry Sloan said. ''I thought we played unfairly for anyone who had to pay the money to come see us play.''

Karl Malone was held to 11 points on 3-for-16 shooting, four days after getting 29 points and 15 rebounds in a 93-85 victory over the Lakers in Salt Lake City. John Stockton had 13 points and 10 assists.

''It was a terrible start and then the second half we worked our way back into it and we just couldn't seem to ignite any real strong fires,'' Stockton said. ''They had a lead and they just played it out.''

Utah center Greg Ostertag was ejected two minutes into the game for arguing a non-call after he and O'Neal got tied up under the basket. He left the court kicking and screaming.

''I thought Greg got hammered on the shot and there was no call on it. Obviously, he was upset,'' said Sloan, who was ejected six minutes later for chirping at referee Derrick Stafford, who had tossed Ostertag.

''I sat there and got a little more upset when I thought about it. A lot of times the team is at a disadvantage because of me because I fight harder than I should. I feel like there is a responsibility. I get upset. I was very upset tonight,'' Sloan said.

The Lakers were vastly better than last Wednesday in Utah. In that game, they shot 35.7 percent, had 16 turnovers and scored just 13 points in the third quarter.

This time, they shot 50 percent, had 21 turnovers and maintained a comfortable double-digit lead for much of the second half.

''I liked our aggressive behavior. We got into this game immediately,'' Jackson said.

For just the second game this season, the Lakers had all of their top eight players available. Each of them saw at least 20 minutes of action, with Jackson going no more than three-deep on his bench.

''Phil is really starting to tighten up the rotation, go with guys that can execute the game plan and know exactly what he wants out there, so our rhythm is going to be a little bit better,'' Bryant said.

Game notes
Lakers forward-center Samaki Walker saw his first extensive playing time since returning Friday from a sore back. He had four points and six rebounds in 20 minutes. ... The season series is tied 1-1; the Lakers won it 3-1 last season. ... The last time Ostertag got ejected he kicked the ball into the stands on his way out Feb. 27, 2000, against Portland.

is everyone ready to bow to their knees and worship the three time defending champs yet?

I have to say that, as a long-time Mavericks fan, I have great respect for the Lakers and Phil Jackson. His coaching skills are, in my opinion, beyond question. It's one thing to have great athletes; it's quite another to get them on the same page with you, and to get the lesser players to play within their abilities and defer to the stars. Many other coaches have not been able to do that.

Having said all that, the Mavericks' collapse was devastating to us here in Texas. Yes they won the next night, but the bad taste still lingers. It was a total collapse in the 4th quarter. We cannot afford to do that against top teams like the Lakers, and yes I consider them to be a top team regardless of their record now. The season is still young.

I thought the Fakers were a great team.. they haven't even won three in a row yet?

That's pathetic.
