since the lakers are going to win their fourth straight nba championship in 2003 i just thought id start a thread in their honor.

you can use this thread to tell everyone how much you love the lakers. espcially shaq, and rick fox.

umm don't they have to start winning some games during the season first?

Kings all the way baby.:D

hmmm so what were they without Shaq? ummm 3 and 8 or something like that?

yup, one man team..... pray he doesn;t get injured again. ;)

hmmm now lets see, the Mavs have Van Exel and LaFrentz still injured... god help the league when they are back and rocking hard.

i disagree w/ the one man team thing..i know thats what everyone says..but if you study it, youll see otherwise..devon george is coming into his own little realm of stardom, hes been out. two of their back up centers were out from time to time while shaq was gone.. they arent anywhere near as deep as the mavs are, but can the mavs stop a healthy laker team? they didnt last year.

so if you still say theyre only shaq, it hasnt really mattered the last three years.. yay lakers!

Without shaq, without Fox, half the games, without George the other half.

The Mavs are a no man team, when the game is on the line, who's gonna stand up?

O'Neal scores 24, Bryant has triple double in win

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Things are getting back to normal for the three-time defending NBA champion Los Angeles Lakers.

With Shaquile O'Neal back in the starting lineup, the Lakers had their bigest offensive output of the season.

Shaquille O'Neal scored 24 points and grabbed 11 rebounds in his second game of the season, and Kobe Bryant had a triple-double Sunday night to lead the Lakers to a 111-99 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks.

O'Neal had 17 points and seven rebounds in 21 minutes as a reserve Friday night in an 86-73 victory over Chicago in his first game since undergoing surgery Sept. 11 on his arthritic right big toe.

He started against the Bucks and played 28 minutes.

Bryant had 15 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists for his third triple-double of the season and the sixth of his career.

Derek Fisher had a season-high 21 points and seven assists; Rick Fox scored 11 points, and Robert Horry added 10 as all five Los Angeles starters scored in double figures.

The 111 points were a season-high, as was the 50.6 percent shooting percentage (44-of-87). The previous highs were 108 points and 45.9 percent against the Los Angeles Clippers on Nov. 1.

Michael Redd led Milwaukee with 19 points. Jason Caffey had season-high totals of 16 points and 12 rebounds, and Sam Cassell had 15 points, nine rebounds and eight assists for the Bucks.

Milwaukee's Ray Allen, the NBA's seventh-leading scorer with a 23.6-point average, sprained his right ankle in the second quarter and sat out the second half. He shot 1-of-8 and scored four points in 16 minutes.

O'Neal's three-point play with 8:13 remaining -- shortly after he returned to the game -- gave the Lakers a 98-87 lead. The Bucks weren't closer than 10 points after that.

O'Neal scored nine points to spark a 15-5 run to begin the second half, giving the Lakers a 77-59 lead.

But the Bucks outscored the Lakers 14-9 with O'Neal out in the final 5:54 of the third period to draw within 11 points entering the fourth quarter. They got as close as eight points before he came back in.

Brian Shaw scored five points, and Bryant added four during a 13-2 run that gave the Lakers a 57-44 lead late in the second quarter. It was 62-54 at halftime.

Tim Thomas, averaging 10.8 points, scored eight of his 13 in the first 2½ minutes as the Bucks took a 10-2 lead.

But the Lakers wound up playing one of their best offensive quarters of the season, shooting 13-of-23 in taking a 32-31 lead entering the second period.

Game notes
The Lakers honored broadcaster Chick Hearn by unveiling a jersey bearing his name as part of a pregame tribute. Hearn died in August at age 85 of head injuries three days after a fall at his home. His jersey, with a microphone instead of a number underneath his name, was placed on the Staples Center wall alongside those of the team's retired superstars. ... The Bucks played without starting forward Anthony Mason, who strained his left hamstring Friday night during a victory at Golden State. ... The Lakers have won 14 of their last 17 games against the Bucks. ... Former UCLA star Dan Gadzuric, who started the first 11 games of his rookie season, was replaced in the Bucks' starting lineup by Ervin Johnson. Gadzuric missed a wide-open dunk late in the second quarter, but had nine points and six rebounds in 26 minutes before fouling out with 4:58 left.

Don't give me this "they aren't a one man team" crap because they are! 3 and 9 without Shaq? That's not just bad.. that's nearing the level of play of teams like the Grizzlies!

I think people had this stupid fantasy that the Lake-show wasn't a one man team.. Even with Shaq out people figured that they could at least be .500. Shit, they wern't even that. The Fakers were exposed big time.

And where the hell was zen master Phil? If he is such a great coach then how did this team that "supposedly" isn't a one man team stink so badly? Where the hell was Phil? Oh that's right.. he didn't have his big name star in the lineup to make him look good.

No Jordan
No Shaq
No clue on how to coach a sub-par team.

Shaq makes the Lakers a great team. Lets be honest, no one outside of Kobe can even be thought of as championship material. Not Fisher, Not Fox, Not George..

Why in the hell do you think teams worry about stopping Shaq? Why is it teams try to stock up on big centers like Yao and Dekembe? Because they've known for years what fans got to see this season.. No Shaq in the game means a total Lakers shut down no matter how hard Kobe tries.

The Fakers were exposed hardcore. They better hope Shaq-fu doesn't go down again.

ummm can i quote the game against Seattle the other day?

34 points in the last quarter by Nowitzki, Nash and Finley gave them the win after being down by as many as 21 at one stage.

if thats not "stepping up" then what is? :)

shaq is an ass. I used to love him.. used to follow every game, used to have posters of him all over my walls... but then I went to a Lakers/Grizzlies game for my 15th birthday... and he was just sitting around, and I asked him for his autograph, and I told him it was my birthday... he told me to 'go away, you silly little girl'.

What a dick.

Did I just ask who?

Who gets the last shot when you are down by two and have to make it.

do you honestly think shaq wouldve one three straight titles w/out role players that were good? do you think jordan wouldve won six of them w/out his good role players? you put the one superstar together w/ those other guys, it makes a team. a team has more than one player on it last time i checked. it does make a difference when your best player is out..of course.. you dont have to be real smart to figure that one out, but it also takes those others.. how many big time shots did horry hit? how many championships did horry win w/out shaq.. what do you say about the clutch shots that shaw, george, kobe, fox...everyone else hits when shaqs not on his game.. if you forgot about those ill let you borrow my lakers championship video.. it goes into alot of detail for ya.. as for phil.. your funny.. the guys only won 9 championships.. of course hes a shitty coach.

shawn bradley.. hell take it right to shaq.

Of course not.. I'm saying guys like Jordan and Shaq bring up the level of play of those around them.

What has Pippen done since he and Jordan split? What were the Lakers doing without Shaq this season?

Exactly..

how many big time shots did horry hit? how many championships did horry win w/out shaq..

Horry without Shaq? I don't believe he's won a championship without Shaq.

Sure Will Smith.. ER.. Robert hits big shots. So do others in the league. Big deal. So the team can hit "big shots"

It doesn't matter.. Check those games when they hit "big shots" Shaq has his usual 25+ and is drawing a ton of attention in the paint each time those big shots are hit.

And if you've forgotten, I'll send you a tape of game 6 and 7 versus the Kings.

as for phil.. your funny.. the guys only won 9 championships.. of course hes a shitty coach.

He won 6 with a Jordan led Bulls team, then 3 with a Shaq led Lakers team. Lets put Zen boy on the Blazers or Sonics and see how many he wins.

That's right.. he wouldn't ever be on those teams. Just like he won't coach USA unless it's the olympics and all the star players are playing.

It's ok to like the Fakers.. Just please admit when they are exposed as no more than a one man team

*sigh* silly little muppet. :p

lets just 13-0 for now... third best record ever, including a win over the lakers in that time.

i just told you who would step up... all three of them.... well make that five with the return of Van Exel and LaFrentz

thats the best thing about a team sport. :)

What about the 94 and 95 World Champion Rocket's teams he played on?
