lakers

Go Fakers.. Keep digging... Go Fakers.. In da basement.. Go Fakers!! The Hornets not only beat the Fakers.. they BLASTED them by 16!!

Only .500 since Shaq has come back?? Again I'll say: PATHETIC!!

And even better yet, now they are bitching at each other even more hardcore than ever: LINK

"Talk to the (expletives) that ain't doing nothing. Don't talk to me."

That's what Shazzam said?? Well excuse me Mr. Put-off-surgery-and-sit-on-my-fat-ass! It doesn't look like the big FU master (and in this case I'm thinking Faker teammates may want to rename him F.U. Shaq instead of ShaqFu) is doing much with a 6-6 record.

But that's ok right st4nton?? st4nton??

St4nton?? Where have you been??

Missing? Missing just like ol Zen boy who still sits there arms crossed but yet strangley with a thumb up his ass at the same time while his team implodes.

:D

Lakers will win the championship........(if they are advanced to the Special Olympics)

oh im still here, just dont have alot to say yet. :)

when they start winning ill start talking more.

but i do remember alot of grumbling along the way to three straight championships in the last three years. i dont think the lakers are capable of winning unless theyre going thru something. just wait til the playoffs. i know your scared.

you can use this thread to tell everyone how much you love the lakers. espcially shaq, and rick fox.

just so we can all point and laugh when they lose.

Of course you will.. All Faker fans will because you can't stick with your team when the going is thick.

but i do remember alot of grumbling along the way to three straight championships in the last three years.

First off this is the biggest BS comment I've seen in some time. They need to bitch at each other like the chicks on "The View" to get anywhere?

Well if that's the case, then why in the hell did they get their asses handed back to them tonight?

Admit it.. This is different from the championship years. This is different from Kobe and Shazzam having a bitch slap fest saying "I wan't the ball.. no no I want the ball!" This is different from the team bitching about who is responsible for all the winning.

This a team that is pointing the finger at each other while they lose.. and lose badly I might add.

And Philly Zen is looking there stupid as ever.. And you people want him to coach the US team in the olympics?

Dayum.. I'm thinking we may as well reserve those gold medals already.... No, not for the US. I was talking about a European team that can easily beat a bunch of Americans who keep bitching at each other.

'Cuz if Zen boy can't keep the big sputtering diesel's ego in check, how is he going to hold in A.I. or Carter or...?

im with my team. i always will be. i havent started liking the blazers cus my lakers cant win. i can admit this is different, but only cause its a new year. thats not bs either, you go back to any year since shaq and kobe started playing together and theirs contraversy, in past years worse than this. all shaqs doing is trying to motivate his team. do you happen to remember two years ago, when they won, and each of them were demanding trades? thats not bigger than this? theyre losin, and they dont look to good right now. it would not suprise me if the barely make it into the playoffs at this rate, but youve gotta admit something yourself, once they finally get it together, do you think it really matters what seed they are in the playoffs? those other teams will be fearin them. theyve always turned it up.. and i doubt theyll make this year the exception.

all shaqs doing is trying to motivate his team.

That's maybe what he's trying to do.. but what he's really doing is pissing them all off. Even his boy Brian Shaw is ripping him publicly.

do you think it really matters what seed they are in the playoffs? those other teams will be fearin them. theyve always turned it up.. and i doubt theyll make this year the exception.

I think it does matter.. Look at their road record right now. How do you think they are going to survive Arco Arena when they have to go there at least four times? Dallas had the Lakers beat and blew up by themselves. The Hornets - who have been solid all season - just handled the Lakers. Hell even the Grizzlies are pushing the Lakers to the limit every time they meet.

If the Lakers went 2-9 without Shaq, and then 10-2 with him, I'd agree that the Lakers can be feared again. But the Lakers are only .500 and should be less than .500 with him. Losses to New Orleans don't make you look fearsome..

The Lakers better figure the shit out before Christmas, because if they don't I can just see the Kings picking whatever meat is left off the Lakers bones. That game right there will be a tell-tale sign if the Lakers do in fact get back to winning.

And I do take back a little of what I said st4nton.. You are sticking with your team and that's good to see. But I find it funny that a week or two ago you were saying "bow down"..

Seems to me like the Lakers have not only bowed down but have dropped their shorts on top of it..

yes i cut and paste, but lets call it revenge ;)

Hot Shooting Wolves Crush Lakers

MINNEAPOLIS, Dec. 17 (Ticker) -- Everything is not Zen for the Los Angeles Lakers.

Kevin Garnett scored 23 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead a balanced attack as the Minnesota Timberwolves took control early and routed the reeling Lakers, 96-80.

The Timberwolves used a 24-8 run spanning the first and second quarters to tuck away Los Angeles, which only briefly got back within single digits thereafter.

Shaquille O'Neal scored just six of his 17 points in the second half and Kobe Bryant added 15 points for the struggling Lakers, who fell to 2-11 on the road and lost the opener on what they hoped would be a watershed four-game trip.

"I can't pinpoint what the problem is, it's just the consistency that's missing," Lakers coach Phil Jackson said. "And you can see our chemistry is not good when the bottom falls out right away."

The road trip gets no easier for the Lakers, who visit New Jersey and Philadelphia before finishing at Toronto.

"We can still have a successful trip, I don't see any reason why we can't come back and win the last three," Bryant said. "Our confidence is a little low, but I don't think that's the issue. I think teams are just playing better than us. I think they are a little hungrier than us some nights."

The Timberwolves got a healthy contribution from their bench. Marc Jackson scored 13 points, former Laker Anthony Peeler and Rod Strickland added 10 apiece and Joe Smith grabbed a game-high 13 rebounds as Minnesota's reserves outscored Los Angeles', 42-26.

"Our bench was good," Minnesota coach Flip Saunders said. "It's the first time Rod has played well at home. He has played well on the road this season, but not at home. A.P. made some big shots and Joe gave us another big night on the glass."

The Timberwolves made their move early.

After Rick Fox hit a jumper to cut the deficit to 18-17 with 3:10 left in the opening period, Smith hit a layup and Garnett sank a short runner and a reverse layup for some breathing room.

Leading 26-18 after one, Minnesota went on a 19-7 run to take a 45-25 advantage on Gary Trent's tip-in with 4:14 to go. Peeler had eight points in the burst, including a pair of 3-pointers.

O'Neal was held to two points on 1-of-3 shooting after scoring nine in the first quarter. Bryant also missed 3-of-4 shots and netted two points in the quarter as the Lakers shot 36 percent in the second period and trailed 51-38 at halftime.

"I don't think that (his and O'Neal's lack of scoring) that's an important issue here, I can score anytime I want to," Bryant said. "Me going out and scoring 50, or Shaq going out and scoring 50, isn't going to help us. We need a team effort."

Bryant was 6-of-14 from the field.

"My plan was to make him work," T-Wolves guard Kendall Gill said. "He's so good, he's going to get his points. You have to make him work hard for them."

Rasho Nesterovic scored 10 points as the Timberwolves shot 51 percent (41-of-80) from the floor. Troy Hudson had 10 assists, Strickland six and Peeler five as Minnesota moved the ball well, dishing out 32 assists to the Lakers' 23.

"We beat a good team, we're not going to let anything diminish what we did," Garnett said.

Bryant and Los Angeles showed signs of life in the third, as the guard scored four points in a 12-6 run that cut the deficit to 57-50 after Robert Horry's 3-pointer with 7:45 to go.

But buckets by Nesterovic and Garnett around Bryant's jumper gave the Timberwolves a 61-52 lead and Trent restored the double-digit advantage with a layup.

Leading 68-57 after three, Minnesota scored 12 of the first 16 points of the fourth en route to its third win in four games.

thats a good question. maybe in a few weeks..

Against the Kings??

I bet Shazzam will really regret that "Queens" comment when Sac-town romps his sorry fat ass.

Bad enough the Nets handed the Fakers their ass.. but the Sixers up and do the same thing right after that!

Victory Slips Through Lakers' Grasp

PHILADELPHIA, Dec. 20 (Ticker) -- Allen Iverson and the Philadelphia 76ers kept giving chances to the Los Angeles Lakers, who let them slip through their fingers.

The Lakers wasted numerous opportunities, including one by Rick Fox in the final seconds of overtime, as they continued their season-long stumble with a 107-104 setback to the 76ers.

other key notes in that fantastic game review:

The three-time defending champions are 7-9 since the return of superstar center Shaquille O'Neal

...

"Even with choking on the free throws and everything, it felt good knowing my teammates took up the slack for me," said Iverson
(I bet Shazzam wishes he could say the same! I wonder when he'll blow up publicly for a third time? Hopefully after th so-called "Queens" beat his sorry ass)

...

"People can be down on them all they want, but the way they played tonight, trust me, no one wants to play them in the playoffs," Snow said.

Aww what a guy Eric Snow is eh? Still being very humble even though it's clearly obvious this isn't the same Lakers team from past years and are just as obvious in a LOT of trouble.

Last place in the Pacific? Worse than the Clippers? Since when in the hell could anyone ever say the Clippers are the best b-ball team in the city of angels?

Things are not looking good for the Fakers, and yet Zen boy has his thumb firmly in his ass. If this was hockey, Philly would be gone by now! Bob Hartley won a Stanley Cup two seasons ago with Colorado but because of a sub par season so far this year he was fired this week.. Cripes not only did he get fired despite a recent championship, but he also got fired even though the Avalanche were still over .500 and only 10 points out of first place with 2 games in hand!

Then again, this is basketball...

BULLSHIT!!!

I don't care what the numbers say.. The Raptors beat the Fakers today at ACC!!

Alvin Williams hit a 3 ponter.. but the refs (who no doubt had their ass kissed amoung other things by Shazzam) rule it a 2 pointer and give the Fakers a chance to win it.. and even then they barley do in OT.

That's pathetic when the NBA instructs their refs to help the Fakers win a few.

in case you missed it

the lakers are now above 500. i know it took them awhile, but you best fear these boys.

Fear? I don't know if fear is the right word quite yet.

Respect? Yes.. The Lakers are finally starting to play like the Lakers of last year.

But I don't know if they are to be "feared" yet... Especially if they have to charge hard to make a playoff spot - a spot they still don't have by the way - and then be drained only to face up against the Kings or Mavs or Spurs in the first round.

We shall see in a few weeks after the break if the Lakers are back, or if this was just a minor blip on the screen.

1.5 behind the Rockets who lost last night.

And the league...is afraid...

"if the playoffs were to start today...."

RECAP | BOX SCORE | PLAY-BY-PLAY | GAMECAST

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Shaquille O'Neal, freshly turned 31, played the game with kid-like energy and glee.

O'Neal

Bryant

The Los Angeles Lakers' center had 40 points, 14 rebounds, five blocks, four assists and was quick up and down the court Friday night in a 106-96 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves.

"He looked good. His movement was good and he played with energy," Lakers coach Phil Jackson said. "Maybe it had something to do with having a birthday. Who knows?"

O'Neal, who turned 31 Thursday, said he's finally returning to form. He had toe surgery in September, didn't play until late November, and now seems to be peaking as the three-time defending NBA champions head down the stretch of the regular season.

"I'm getting there. I'm pretty close. I think we have 20 something games to get it right, but when the playoffs come, it is a different attitude, a different mentality, a different focus," O'Neal said.

"When it's time to be there, I'll be there, and everybody knows that."

Kobe Bryant, who scored 30, said, "He's feeling good and we're going to continue to go to him. It felt good to see how light he was on his toes. I haven't seen him this agile in a while. I think we're all reassured by that."

The Lakers, who struggled earlier in the season, won for the eighth time in nine games. The victory was only their second in their last six games against the Kevin Garnett-led Timberwolves.

Garnett, guarded mostly by Mark Madsen, was held to 15 points on 6-of-17 shooting in the loss -- Minnesota's third in a row to start a five-game West Coast trip.

"The difference tonight was that Shaq played incredibly aggressively for 48 minutes," Garnett said. "We didn't necessarily rotate to Shaq like we were supposed to do and he made us pay for it."

Late in the second quarter, O'Neal blocked Wally Szczerbiak's shot, tossed the ball to Derek Fisher to start a fast break, then hustled down the court, got the rebound when Bryant missed a short jumper, and put the ball into the hoop.

In the third quarter, the Lakers' 7-foot-2, 340-pound center dribbled the length of the court on a fast break, but ran over Rasho Nesterovic in the lane and drew a charging foul.

In the fourth quarter, O'Neal put a spin move on Nesterovic, laid the ball gently into the hoop and seemed almost to prance as he ran back upcourt.

"Shaq was just in his flow," said Nesterovic, who led Minnesota with 19 points.

Garnett and the Lakers' Robert Horry were called for double technicals with 1:49 remaining after Szczerbiak and Fisher collided. Fisher and Szczerbiak were called for a double foul.

Troy Hudson hit a running 59-footer at the buzzer to end the third quarter and pull the Timberwolves within 78-73. But Minnesota got no closer than five points the rest of the way.

The Timberwolves had beaten the Lakers 96-80 in Minnesota on Dec. 17.

Game notes
The Lakers placed F Tracy Murray on the injured list earlier in the day after he sprained his right ankle during the team's morning practice. Rookie G Jannero Pargo was activated to fill the roster spot. ... Garnett was coming off a 27-point, 24-rebound effort in Minnesota's 96-95 overtime loss at Sacramento on Wednesday. ... Even with the loss, the Timberwolves have won 19 of their last 25.
