Kingmaker

Arkhan took the seat once he was permitted to do so, nodding in reply to Kumio and thanking Vayah at the same time, joining the group had gone delightfully smooth. “Thank you” he said as the food was offered to him, taking the offered plate but not eating yet “In short activism is seeking social and political change, in a generally nonviolent way.” He often found that people didn’t actually know what some of the words he used meant, but they rarely admitted it, this Vayah was the naive one, wasn’t she?

Then the last of last nights attractions arrived, baring prince Sabin of course, but him joining them for breakfast was unlikely, and in Arkhans opinion, a clear herald of rotten luck. The latest arrival though, was as easy to remember as the prince was, after all, once you jump up on a bar you get remembered, for good or worse, in Arkhans opinion, it was the latter. His lack of etiquette implied a more familiar standing with the group, however, the response it garnered implied the opposite, which was confirmed by Vayah before too long had passed. She was direct, he had uses for direct.

This Sebastian character however, while loud and showy, struck him as the far less direct type, loud words and a silent knife as it were, Arkhan had uses for such people as well though. “Traveling out is not as simple as it sounds, there is little in the way of trading opportunity once we leave here, so ample provisions would need to be acquired, clean drinking water, preservable food, medical supplies” there was more on that list, but he didn’t know what it was, Arkhan knew his limits and wilderness knowledge was one of them.

On the subject of Vayahs words however, Arkhan remained silent, the fact that he was there was show enough that he would listen, and that was all that had truly been asked so far.

It was a little refreshing to find someone that had an unspoken connection with her, that much was clear as those amber orbs settled upon the diminutive woman who started to draw the others like a moth to flame. Kali offered a nod as she reached for a nearby plate and shoveled a rather hefty share of food onto it.

“Kali,” She retorted to the tiny woman before she leaned in towards her plate and gave it a curious sniff. There were things there she had seen before but rarely had a chance to taste; though without another thought she dug in with a starving man's relish. Anything that came close to her lips was devoured, it was obvious she had no table manners and utensils were unknown or forgotten. Instead she used her fingers and claws, tearing at the meat or skewering a little bit of bread with a claw before she tore it off with her fangs.

It was a pleasant meal, at least for a few moments until more people piled in and claimed the empty seats. The didn't share the same scent as Vayah and for that they got the same skeptical look, if one at all. At least everyone except Kumio, Kali dignified her approach with a grunt of recognition, even as her cheeks puffed as she shoved a combination of breakfast foods into her open maw.

“Only thing he's got is a pretty face and silver tongue. Trust 'em as far as you throw 'em,” Kali rumbled, though her mouth was still full and most of the words were lost.

" I my dear follow the code of the eternal rose, I must always approach with the rose and try to resolve the issue peaceably" he heard her words to Sebastian, and the exchange between, he chuckled to him self a bit before he continued.

" Unlike Sebastian here I seek more than just lining my pockets i seek the body of a fallen friend and mentor as well as the chance to spread the word of my goddess and do her the honor of building her a grand temple in the chaotic lands below" he ate a bit more as he looked at the table assessing those here with his gaze. he was going to go with or with out a group. He was okay with the more debonaire Sebastian and Vayah seems a generous and kind soul, the other he would need to ponder more on but for now he was okay with them.

"So Vayah, may I I thank in Shelyns' name for this bountiful meal and I will gladly travel with one so generous and kind hearted, if you would have me?" he asks as he raises his glass in salute than take s swig of his coffee!

"I'm much more comfortable riding ponies actually." Vayah replied honestly, simply not understanding Sebastian's quip. "It's... Dificult for me to get on such beasts and much less... Pleasant." Remembering the one time she'd tried and was left bow legged for the rest of the day.

"Live well..." Vayah gave Sebastian a slow smile, following the voice of the wild that had served her so well all these years. "I hear you." She said with a slow nodd, sinking back into her seat to listen to the others. Still, she was curious what talent he posessed, but knew better than to push him to reveal them. He would obviously do so in his own time.

She turned to Arkhan. "But sometimes, violence will be called for, unfortunately." She admited, making sure they understood one another. "Oh!" She perked up a bit. "I can help with wilderness life. I can show you each many things that will keep you clean, fed and warm. And trade is easy enough, if you hear my voice. I know who needs what and when. With your help, we could become a pride of great renown."

The use of 'pride' was entirely directed toward Kali, who had finally given her name. She gave the pretty and obviously dangerous woman a warm smile. She already saw her as something of a sister. There unspoken bond formed that easily.

Still smiling, Vayah focused on Gerade, listening intently. "Not everyone will look on your offer of a rose with kindness. Frankely, I have seen what some who speak as you do, who wish to bring their gods to us act in the most monsterous way. I, myself trust in your heart, and would be glad to help you find your lost friend." Her smile sweetened as he thanked her in his gods name. "There is much we could share. Much to be gained. If that is what we can base our pride upon and temper it with wisdom, we will be great. I thank each of you for sharing this meal with me. It means a great deal to me. Thank you." Words were quickly failing her as the gravity of how amasing it was to be here, in this moment began to sink in.

She blushed and bowed her head with a soft smile as she sunk back into her seat and enjoyed watching the rest of them enjoy the meal. She slowly ate her fill as well.

Gerade was no fool, all the table seemed capable of handling them selves. The white haired woman said little but moved precisely every movement planned, yet not. The cat girl, Kali was what she was a wild catfolk girl with flails. Sebastian and this other man were men who could blend in anywhere. They were the ones to pursue money and fame as easy as possible. Normally he would frown in such Ta tics, but in the lands south a quick tongue and a quick knife might mean the difference between success and failure.

" I wish our trip fruitful, and are camaraderie to grow, with such a group as us, May the wild lands south of here see us as not some green adventurers to push around but the ones to tame these wilds and weed out these villains for the good of the lands and its people" he said in a heroic tone, trying to boost the morale of his fellows. He put his hand on Vayahs shoulder and smiles.

" Do not worry Vayah, like my goddess, your faith will protect you, plus you have the rest of us here to help you. We are a band of merry adventurers, getting in to danger is what we do!"
