H and W met in college, where they were sexually liberated. In fact the first time they hooked up was a threesome ion a dorm room with W's then boyfriend during a party.

They married after graduation and swung for the first few years.

But then they had young kids and settled down. No conscious decision was ever made to stop swinging, but it just stopped happening.

From there I see two variations (no doubt there are more):

A : the babysitter version. The youngest baby is now old enough that W agrees to get a babysitter, Insists on a college girl with more experience, who of course reminds H of w when they met...

B: the kids are old enough to be left alone. So H and W are now in late thirties, haven't swung in fifteen years, but go to a party, not realizing it is that sort of party.

A lot of stories could fit under that title, but to follow your outline:

The couple goes out to dinner, then plan to see a movie. When they arrive at the theater it's already started or is sold out, so they try to think of something else.

One of them mentions one of their old hangouts that was frequented by swingers back when they were in the life. The go in and are a little nervous since they have been out for a while.

They spy a man/woman/couple who are young and very nervous, obviously their first time. The couple/person reminds them of them when they were getting into the life so they carefully approach and things move on from there.

You could swing it into a "gift of the magi" type story: He wants to get back into swinging, but thinks she has moved beyond it. She also wants to get back, but thinks HE is beyond it. So they each start scheming to suck the other back into "the lifestyle."

Holy crap. If I thought I could do this story justice I'd gank it right here and now. I haven't been feeling any Loving Wife vibes at all this year.
