Jussie Smollett Trial Begins

Here's the deal: They want to be oppressed. No, they need to be oppressed. Not really oppressed, but to be able to claim that they are oppressed. It's the only thing in their miserable, decadent lives that bestows the slightest hint of character, of nobility on them. So when the world doesn't deliver oppression but luxury and privilege, they have to manufacture oppression.

Well said. The left excels at manufactured outrage.

"What separates the Smollett hate hoax from most others, however, and makes it even more disgusting is a certain inversion of reality: It was yet another example of a rich, influential, left-wing individual not only playing the victim, but putting the onus on the relatively powerless. Reflecting Rittenhouse’s and the Covington Catholic kids’ background, the MAGA movement comprises mainly middle-class, Middle American people — the average guy. Yet it is he, not individuals such as the wealthy and famous Smollett, who’s cast as privileged and powerful."

Bottom line is, if the races were reversed and a white Maga guy hired two friends to put on black face and wear BLM T-shirts to beat him up in an attempt to start a race war, we know his ass would be going to jail and would probably be facing an FBI terror or conspiracy investigation.

So -- may I ask why you trust the watchdogs? My guess is that you will trust the watchdogs who support your personal opinions and distrust the ones that don't It's a form of confirmation bias ... If you are really interested in understanding how flawed we are a humans .. check out the work of this professor.

Because I'm not paranoid or extremely partisan as you are showing? Was this a trick question?

You have a charity continuing with high marks on the one hand and a charity closed down by the courts for corruption on the other. What except for extremist partisanship prevents you from judging which one is better? Don't try to tell me that you are questioning the watchdog service call here for any other reason than you are a dumb Trumpette.

So, my understanding of the defense's case is this.

Smollett was raised in a household of progressive activism. As he got older, he discovered that he was gay. He became a talented singer and actor, and grew quite wealthy. He continued his activism with his public words and comments, heavily criticizing President Trump. He met the Osundairo brothers, two Nigerian businessmen and bodybuilders on the set of Smollett's TV show Empire. Smollett had a sexual relationship with one of the brothers.

Someone sent Smollett a racist death threat letter signed MAGA. This death threat was not taken seriously by the Empire production team and parent companies.

Smollett paid the Osundairo brothers $3,500 for nutrition and workout tips. Then, the Osundairo brothers hatched a plan to attack Smollett on the streets of Chicago wearing MAGA gear. Perhaps their plan was to attack him, and then when he reported it to the police, they would claim that Smollett was the real mastermind and that he could squeeze money out of them.

Smollett, unaware of this decided on a whim to walk down to the store to get eggs in the middle of the night while it was snowing outside. Coincidentally, the Osundairo brothers were on the same streets, in the same weather at the same late hour. They attacked Smollett, who did not recognize that they were black, or that they were people he knew. He could not identify that one of the men who attacked him was a prior sexual partner. He mis-identified their builds, their clothes and their skin color.

The black, Nigerian brothers yelled racist slurs at Smollett. The brother who had had a homosexual relationship with Smollett yelled homophobic slurs. Smollett's former lover aided in putting a noose around the neck of Smollett, pouring bleach on Smollett and using physical violence against him.

Smollett, shaken from the incident, retreated home.

Does this sound plausible at all?

That a black activist would get a death threat through the mail and then be attacked out of the blue by a former lover and his brother who were being well paid by Smollett for light work? Does it seem reasonable that the brothers would just happen to be where Smollett was that night? Does it seem reasonable that they'd be sure that Smollett would not recognize them? Does it seem likely that Smollett would make such a fuss that the brothers would be in a position to threaten to frame him for a staged attack?

Umm, no, it didn't sound plausible to me from the get go. However, has someone been posting here that his story is plausible?

And now, Smollett's lawyers are being lunged and snarled at by the judge? If you believe these people, the whole world is against them for no reason whatsoever.

If stupidity was illegal Smolay would receive a life sentence. I don’t expect him to serve more than a couple of months in a minimum security prison.

Jussie is a dumb sum bitch:

Jussie Smollett's testimony was 'unparalleled disaster,' jury will see through 'ruse' and convict him: experts
Closing statements in former 'Empire' actor’s trial are set to begin Wednesday

By Julius Young | Fox News

Jussie Smollett made the conscientious decision to testify in his own defense against allegations from prosecutors in Chicago that the actor staged a vile hate crime against himself with the assistance of his associates, brothers Abimbola and Olabingo Osundairo, who allege he paid them to carry out the fake hate crime attack against him in 2019.

While the former "Empire" performer gave a whirlwind testimony over the course of two days that saw Smollett vehemently state in no uncertain terms that the allegations are "100% false" despite what the Osundairo brothers previously testified, some legal experts believe Smollett did himself no favors and likely hurt his defense by taking the stand.

"Smollett testifying in his own defense is one of two things, or maybe both: a narcissistic criminal defendant who is doubling down on his charged lies to law enforcement or defense attorneys who know they are way behind and are throwing a low probability Hail Mary to try to get their client off," former U.S. attorney Neama Rahmani, who is not involved with Smollett's case, told Fox News Digital.

Rahmani added: "Either way, Smollett’s story was a bizarre attempt at forcing a square peg into a round hole by offering every possible explanation for the state’s digital evidence except the most obvious one: that he is guilty. In the unlikely event he is acquitted, Smollett’s decision was a genius move. But it is far more likely that the jury sees through his ruse and Smollett is convicted. If so, the judge may sentence him to prison time for obstructing justice and perjuring himself on the witness stand."

James White, a high-powered attorney in Michigan who is also not involved in the Smollett case, echoed Rahmani's comments that the actor’s testimony was nothing more than "an unparalleled disaster." White noted that he believes Smollett not only "hurt his case" but also "went beyond and made the prosecutor’s case" in the process.
