Dadblast... I rarely post to bulletin boards other than here, and last night I took umbrage at an article comparing US student test scores to those in Japan and how teachers are responsible for the fact that students aren't scoring the same numbers. So I pointed out that 1) teachers don't choose their content, the order skills are taught or how fast they are presented, politicians do all that; 2) as long as people say and write about how lousy education is and teachers are and seldom anything good, why would students have any respect for the teacher or the subject; 3) you can teach a student how to do something but you can't force him to care enough to learn it and more parents have priorities about buying their children things than paying attention to what the child is doing or not doing.

And actually I went on and on and on.. LOL

So... the first thing on the screen today at Netscape is about two teachers; one had sex with an 11 year old student, the other one charged kids a dollar a day to not have to participate in PE. Not that you can call these people teachers but... sigh..
