Now how did you know he was a cowboy, is it the pervert name???
I read his profile. :D He's from Texas...it's an assumption but a relativly safe one, that he's at least cowboyish. *chuckle*

aww some article was doing the same old song and dance about american schools failing kids because they don't do the same on test scores as kids in other countries. and of course it is the teacher's fault.

I get tired of hearing that. So I spoke up. LOL for a long long post.

So you are a teacher?

I've been reading up on that. One thing I've found that might help in certain areas like science and math is if our curriculum changed so we are teaching say, chemistry on Monday, biology on Tuesday and physics on Wednesday for all four years of high school like some other countries do. Or Algebra on Monday, Geometry on Tuesday, Trig on Wednesday and so on.

Personally, I think the paper work and requirements on teachers these days is/are (?) horrific.

Thanks :)

My main point was that test scores shouldn't be used as the one and only way to assess education. I wanted to know more about the other country's education system. Class size, methodologies, teacher training, parent support, their society's priority on education and how it is perceived, how teachers are perceived etc.

As long as parents/society put down teachers orally and in writing, why would their kids have any respect for that system? In a society where parents will buy a video game but not check to see if the kid did his homework, what message do we send to kids. And no matter how good the teacher is, if the kids don't care or the parents don't put a priority and respect on education, then the kids won't do well. But my soapbox was a lot longer lol.

nighters Tom, I will always accept your kisses and I love the hugs. :)

I beg to differ, the part of the Galveston beach I went to was beautiful! If it weren't such a long drive I'd go back in a heart beat.

I haven't been further south in Texas than Houston's airport. I am familiar with the area around Amarillo though. No beaches there. :)

At the beach? At that time of year, it was mostly just my daughter and me. There weren't many people there.

well I admit the airport is a pain, but at least they have little carts that take you from place to place, otherwise I would never be able to get out of town. I much prefer it to Chicago which is just as confusing but expects you to walk.

Yes, I agree SharingFantasies that is what it's all about.

I recently read a James Lee Burke novel that in part was in Galveston in the 1960's. I LOVE his stuff!
