Dave Matthews?

I know Dave is a god but this young fellow, Mayer. is making me wet.

This is bound to be a while
Your body is a wonderland

Damn, baby, you frustrate me
I know you're mine, all mine

Jesus, his guitar licks, that smoky voice . . .

Not sure about the new Dave Matthews, but the guy definatly has some real musical talent. He's one of the few people in the music world today that I can listen to "unplugged", so to speak. Was just saying in another thread a few days ago that 'No Such Thing' could count as my current theme song. Great stuff.

Pick up "Any Given Thursday" - - You won't regret it.

I wouldn't recommend watching him on TV though. He does things with his mouth that are so damned distracting that you forget to enjoy the music.

i have to agree.. i love Dave Matthews.. but damn, i do love John Mayer too..

And everything he does is somewhat distracting.. *grins*

Okay, I just have to step in and put a stop to this. John Mayer isn't bad, and sure, he has a knack for playing guitar....but he is no dave matthews. Dave has an entire band of great musicians...seriously. If you want to compare guitarist to guitarist, that's fine...but there's no way in hell I'd switch out any of my Dave cd's for one of John Mayer.:p

Watching Keith Jarret live makes Joe Cocker seem pretty tame. Great musicians aren't managing appearances, though great entertainers do.

I usually listen to The Deftones, The White Stripes, Smashing Pumpkins, Audioslave, Soundgarden... you get the drift. But, somehow John Mayer has swept himself into my CD collection. I think that he's an amazing song writer/performer. Yeah, the mouth thing is distracting, but overall I think he's pretty good.

I listen to neither..

Let me pop in my new Linkin Park CD in...

No I dont think he is the new Dave Matthews.

The thing is Dave Matthews is awesome, I heard him play on thursday with tim reynolds. It made me realise that all though his songs are great and his talent is amasing, his band is what makes him a superstar not just a good muscian.

Now if John Mayer got a band, it could be possible.

I'll listen the second time. I'll imagine what he can do to me with that lovely mouth on the first viewing.

I am SO glad to know I am not the only one who hates to watch him sing! I think it's that he sings out of the side of his mouth and makes faces that make it look like he is in pain, some of his expressions remind me of Joe Cocker...lol.

Otherwise...I LOVE him...great voice and awesome lyrics and music...he just plain rocks!:)

a little too...

dave matthews...the voice, the songs, his style, his stage performance...this guy has all the tools, but some serious originality issues. i wish he would develop his own thing...making a career off of ripping of somebody else is very dangerous...perhaprs too harsh, but someone had to say i t

John Mayer is from my hometown.........so its been a big
story in my area of CT.........making the front page of our
local paper after winning a Grammy............. :)

Great album..........John has a lot going for him and a
summer concert tour coming up to boot! :)
