I'm 35, not sure how young that counts for in your book.
I do judge the Clash in context-in the context of rock, not the context of "punk rock" or political rock. Superlatively heavy groups such as Black Sabbath and the Ramones were making records earlier than the Clash, so were the Sex Pistols, to take an example from their own scene.(*) I defy you to name one single Clash track as electrifying as "Bodies"-which was also political in its own way, though not a very palatable message to the left.
