Sounds like a punchline, but there they were posing together happily on the BBC.

Bono persuaded Helms to help pass a third world debt relief act by telling stories that reportedly had Helms in tears. Helms in tears? Wouldn't that be covered under the proposed Official Secrets Act?

Helms and Thurmond will soon be retiring and Robert Byrd will soon be President pro tempore of the Senate, if he lives past 2003.

Question...will Thurmond be the first 100 year old Senator if he lives that long?

Funny thing about Thurmond is that despite his Dixiecrat past, he could not win over and over again without strong support from South Carolina's black voters.
