I've read this --- also Let's Go Play at the Addams' House which was another book inspired by the same real-life events that Ketchum's book is.

His book Off Season is one of horror's better titles and has been poorly imitated any number of times. As quoted on the website: "His first novel, Off Season, prompted the Village Voice to publicly scold its publisher in print for publishing violent pornography." Sure, it's porny, but it's also pretty scary and it's well-written. He's done better stuff since --- well, more literary, in any case --- but I still like to re-visit that title from time to time.

His novella Right to Life about the kidnapping of a pregnant woman by a couple of whacked out RTLers is excellent and also somewhat influenced by the real life events of the girl in the box --- can't remember any of the real names of the victims or perpetrators in that case but she was kept enslaved for years spending much of her time in either a head box or stuffed into a box under the bed of her captors.
