I've discovered

That I don't like sleeping alone. And I'm not just talking about wanting a partner.

For 5 years I rarely slept alone, and when I did, the novelty was nice.

For the last 2 and a half years, I've rarely shared a bed. And I've been having trouble getting to sleep.

It's taken all this time to put those two things together. Now I understand what my ex meant about not sleeping when I was away.
