Yep, it's Tax Time in America.

Last week I received my 1040 in the mail. This week I received my W-2's in the mail.

I hate doing taxes.

This morning once I had woken up I started in on the taxes with a cup of coffee at my elbow and a full pot on the stove. It took a while but I made my way through everything. I dropped the paper work in the mailbox this afternoon.

Sometime next week I expect I'll hear a scream coming out of Washington.

I'm owed $2188.00 this year. Man I'm kind of happy about this.

I finally got my W2s this afternoon. E-filed Fed and both states an hour later. Getting about 3 grand back, total. It will probably all sit as an emergency fund against car break-downs and short hours at work.

I use tax software and e-file. Since I always owe something, I file as close to April 15 as possible. For some odd reason the feds returning my own money to me once a year with no interest earned pisses me off.

Filed last week using software and e-file, should be in this Friday or next...

I should sock my boss upside the head. I have never gotten my tax forms on time, and I probably never will. I'm lucky if I get them before April, and surprised* if I get them in time to file on time. yes, I know I could take him to court over this. It's not worth it, yet.

*I really need to stop typing this as "suprised." I know the correct spelling of it. I just can't get my fingers to type it.

I work on a 1099 basis and report every single penny I earn [News services, please copy.] However, I always have a late 1099 problem or three. I have tried asking the IRS, 'Trust me!' Those bastards are paranoid!

I've used Turbo Tax since 93 and it always works fine :D

unlike a certain Treasury Secretary

I'll get started any day now.....

sooner if I get laid off, later if the reaper misses.....personally I have no problem paying my taxes, rather, I mean: I have no problem with paying taxes for the privilege of being an American citizen. This is the most compelling and dynamic social experiment of all time: and we are living it!!!! Geez! I hope that you all appreciate this situation - flaws and all. True, there is much to be ashamed of that has been done in our name: the near genocide of the Native Americans, the suppression of the union movement, the Bunds, slavery and it's ugly aftermath, the invasion of Iraq and Panama, but the election of the young man from Chicago is evidence that there is a core of truth surrounding this myth of freedom!
Long may you run!

Nice post dragonlipz.

What cracks me up is all the conservatives complaining about paying taxes when it was their conservative president who ran up the biggest deficit in U.S. history. How do we pay off a deficit if not with taxes? (Oh, I know. We sell all federal and state land to the highest bidder. Then we start learning to speak Chinese - since they'll be the new owners of this country.)
