Breasts. Again.

I know some writers specify breast size like a winning lottery number, but I've always felt that they're all wonderful and why have tried not to get sidetracked with that and the guy's size in inches. Today I received a comment on a tale I'd done some while back, Number 23. The individual was polite enough, but seems to place a lot of importance on that missing detail:

Should I be reconsidering?
I like reading specifications of a woman's bra size about as much as I enjoy reading specifications of new mobile phones. Spare me, please: All I want to know is whether the time spent with either breasts or a smartphone will be enjoyable for all.

Fact: "She had 36DD's and wore them well" is SO much less sexy than "She actually purred when I gently squeezed them."

I have never gone for the 36C type descriptions. In my recent stories, I tend to say very little about body shape. The most common is an occasional comment by a FC about hiow she thinks men perceive her. In my most recently published story, FMC grouses that her boyfriend wishes she had bigger boobs. Mostly it is just elegant or gorgeous or "beautiful in my eyes".

I did have one 1P story where the MC was a total geek and thought about women like a 14 year old boy did. He describes FMC using inches and cup size when he first sees her, because that is how he thinks.

If you want to give a description of their size, here are some from small to big

Her breasts certainly would not limit her ability to pass as a man.

The gentle curves of her chest offered a pleasant counterpoint to the rest of her lean and athletic body.

Her sweater offered more than enough curves to catch my eyes.

Her cleavage led every eye, male or female, immediately to her most prominent asset.

The she walked in the room, my first thought was, "Dolly Parton has nothing on her."

Jesus, those are huge.

I agree with the prevailing view that a story that describes characters primarily by their measurements is unlikely to be particularly good, but I think there are reasonable ways to work a bra size into the narrative.

For example:

Her breasts were overflowing the cups of her obviously too small bra. He would later learn that particular bra was a size 36 C she had owned since she was 15.

or:

"You can take off my bra if you like," she whispered.

Having never learned the one-handed reach around bra release maneuver, he positioned himself behind her on the couch. When he saw the three inch wide strap with four sets of hooks securing it, he couldn't see how the one-hand trick was even possible. As he released the hooks one by one, he saw the tag that read "44 D". He didn't know exactly what 44 D meant, never before having been this close to someone who had need for a bra, but if it was the size that fit the amazing, voluptuous woman in front of him, it was perfect.

But no valid reason to do so.
Not an absolute. My MMC is shopping and has just gotten her first bra fitting:

---

The first thing she brought me was a heavily padded push up bra," this will help the clothes hang properly and give you a better idea of how they really look," her demeanor was so matter of fact, I didn't even pause.

I took the bra and gave it a quick once over, "36A," I thought to myself, "no wonder none of the ones I had bought online fit, they were all way too big,"

But no valid reason to do so.
He literally just demonstrated one: to show the MCs inexperience in all matters that pertain to boobs (and presumably to poke fun at those who drop cup sizes gratuitously, or at least that’s how it reads to me).
