Not quite sure what we should be remembering though.

Kinda late to write a story, but here are a few random plot bunnies:

~ the 97 year old veteran in the old folks home, dragged out to tell his recollections of the day, gets randy with the nurses.

~ the Japanese/American couple, with their equally string feelings about the meaning of the day, and the war, and how it affects their relationship (hint: it ends with hot sex).

~ the planning committee for the 80th anniversary next year provides opportunity for conflict, extra-marital sex.

~ the pacifist and the hawk argue about the merits of war, which always ends up in hot sex with the Bruce Springsteen version of "WAR" (what is it good for?" ) playing in the background.

~ a university seminar, an uncomfortable student (Japanese American?), though not sure how this one leads to sex.

~ a tour of The Arizona memorial leads to stranger sex (or tentacle monster sex?)

I read a story once (not at Lit) about a guy who really wanted to sleep with this one woman. She was happy to date him, but wouldn't sleep with him. So he had her over for dinner one evening, and he pre-made a fake news broadcast about nuclear war breaking out and everyone is about to die! She didn't want to die a virgin, so she let him fuck her. I don't remember how it ended, except that his plan worked.

For a Lit version, you could have him taking her down into a fallout shelter for two weeks so they could "wait out" all the radiation and looting and shit. While having lots of sex, naturally.
