It's almost pointless to go out to eat anymore

I have a friend who just closed up shop but hes jewish and wanted to get the fuck out of the city before the jihadists are unleashed.

Really cute place too.

Whatever happened to Make America Great Again?

The points you mention are contrary to the current president's political platform. He has assured us this is just a temporary thing and was anticipated. It will get better–trust him. ;)

  • Rising food prices are linked to tariffs on imported foods, tariffs on potash from Canada, and let's not forget the 'exporting' of millions of illegal workers in American fields picking perishables that restaurants rely on.
  • Restaurants having labor problems? Go figure. There is no shortage of people to fill those jobs in America, as evidenced by unemployment records. The president has remarked that people in the inner cities are hesitant to take jobs as farm laborers, as he once believed was the solution. So, why is this an issue all of a sudden?
  • It costs almost as much to eat at Cracker Barrel these days as it does to dine at Red Lobster. And both have reduced menu items, and service is faltering. [I've had delivery from both and can't speak to dining in eating experiences.]

Until the Supreme Court rules that those tariffs are illegal, we will suffer. Even after they are nullified, our suffering will persist. Our international goodwill is in tatters, and our good northern neighbors have turned away from us, refusing to see us as reliable partners in agriculture, manufacturing, and many other sectors of the economy and military development.

If you trust your president, we are doing fine and will have just a few bumps to run over before this all becomes just fine. Please don't worry about inflation. He's fixed that, too. Just give it two weeks; in two weeks, you'll see everything is fixed. In two weeks or maybe four more, everything will turn out just fine. It should be about the same time as the peace breakout in Ukraine and Russia. 🤷‍♂️
The last excuse for each of those points was COVID. Oh, and you just made the thread about Trump AGAIN. :)

Covid? You mean the persistent flu, that went away in the spring?

Did I mention Trump? I don't recall saying his name. So, no, I didn't make this dining experience about him. I merely mentioned some factors affecting your dining experiences. You jumped to TDS AGIN. ;) ;)

My president is Trump. Who is yours? :)

The prices are crazy. My wife shrugs it off as everything is up these days.

But I'm one of those general principal types and find myself offended at some of the prices and I'll order the cheapest thing I can.

Its more about getting out and enjoying the company, but I have that "F off, I'm not paying that" thing going.

As for service, its generally good the places we go.

Mine is a James Earl Carter Jr. (y) The last decent man in office, as I recall. I'm not going to grovel and call yours my president at all. No decent law-abiding being should. :rose:

The flu I've yet to get in five years? That thing?

Some people treat illnesses like Pokemon, gotta catch them all so they can moan about it.

i just love this so much.
Me too. I didn't start writing until COVID struck, past the age of seventy. It sparked the urge to write, and now even some political forum characters recognize me as a writer. WoW! 👏👋 I don't think he has read anything I wrote, yet. The Metamorphosis of Bobby is a story that perhaps he'd be interested in.
Are you ok? You're not usually this sloppy. :)
The 'a' thing? Just mimicking your pattern response. They say that if you mimic someone's patterns, it helps ingratiate yourself with them. No? If not, that's okay. I'll do better next time. (y)

Let's just say I don't hate you....yet. :)

:) Hey, I'm not totally unlikeable. 🤷‍♂️

"I believe in live and let live—Cada loco con su tema [Each to his own]. You're entitled to your opinion. I'm not worthy of disdain. You go your way and I'll go mine. Take time to smell the roses."

These clichés are some I abide by. I avoid the ones like throwing bricks at people or glasshouses, and favor 'Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.'

You're kinda growing on me, too... almost.:)

Now, about dining out... I haven't been to a restaurant in years, except for return trips from doctor visits, when I've picked up a drive-through window order. I don't call that dining; I call it survival food. I order delivery sometimes. It isn't as good as what I recall being served inside an eatery. My experience is that when I get home, something is missing or not in the home delivery. More frequently than not. I let it slide except for the time they didn't put the steak in the meal. I barked at them over that. They apologized, had a new order sent out, and didn't bill me for the order. That was a nice gesture on their manager's part. [I think it tasted more tender after I found out my credit card wasn't billed.] [Maybe your president has something to do with that?]

Restaurants dont want cheap whiners like you, so yeah, stay home!

We write like scholars and speak like humans, because writing sticks around, while speech vanishes in short puffs of 'um' and 'you know.' Mark Twain flipped the script by putting real people’s voices on the page, showing that literature could sound like life. My choice is to do the opposite. You could always read Huckleberry Finn.
Lol

Your shit stinks dude.

Get over yourself.

Your remarks are off-base. Par for the course.

When I was well enough to go out to eat, I seldom complained about service, occasionally about a steak being overdone, perhaps. Otherwise, I was a good customer, leaving a generous 20-25% tip. Sometimes, if they were cute and attentive, I left more for them. I left more for those who were going to college and also worked part-time.

I used to see guys wearing veterans' hats and pay for their meals. I recall a World War II veteran's expression of surprise as he dined with his wife. His surprise turned to a smile when the waitress informed him that there was no charge, as it was a gift from another anonymous vet in appreciation for the services rendered.

The pizza delivery guy and I are on a first-name basis. He supports three kids in his second job as a delivery person. I order a medium for my housekeeper and me. I give the driver forty bucks. You do the math, asshole.

Hate is too strong. Detest is about the correct level of distaste.
Detest me? ;)

Makes sense—truth has a way of giving indigestion. I see you've chimed in on the dinner conversation, but not offered a single bite worth chewing. I'd offer you a Tums, but given the attitude, I'll let you suffer instead. :devilish:

Pizza Pity Party!

I know people who don’t like chains won’t agree with this, but Texas Roadhouse has a good menu and you get good value for your money.

Texas Roadhouse seriously is the shit.

And we eat there more than most other chain restaurants because they are.

Good prices
Consistent, quality food
Large variety
Fun environment

Just got home from having some tasteless nachos. How fucking hard is it to make nachos? :)

🙄

Saint_Ann Syndrome is OLD (likely an OLD alcoholic) and doesn’t realize / consider that their taste buds might have given up…
