Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth Edition - it's a comprehensive listing of all mental diagnoses. Yes, yes I am a librarian. :D

Yes, the DSM - where diseases are established by committee. Did you know that in the fifth edition (the current one), grieving over the loss of a person dear to you is a psychiatric disorder? It's just that sometimes it's not so severe as to need therapy.

(Though North American Psych is largely Behaviourist, I'm still reminded of the old song:

Oh Dr. Freud, Oh Dr. Freud
How we wish you'd been otherwise employed,
For this set of circumstances
Sure enhances
The finances
Of the followers of Dr. Sigmund Freud.)

By the way, Magica, Do we meet in the 800.001s?

where one can never find 'Electronics' and other 'scientific' stuff without a mile-long number ?

Never more than four places after the decimal point in my library, rarely more than three. You may be thinking of Library of Congress. Those numbers are egregious.

I've just submitted a fantasy story as a break from working on my Nude Day entries.

It will probably make some readers react badly. What's new?

Reaction is the name of the game whether it is good or bad.

I wrote it as a diversion when my second Nude Day story was temporarily stalled. As usual I noticed two minor typos only after pending turned from blue to black. It isn't worth editing them out.

But my Muses were having a weird turn when that story was been written.

I'm a Troll,
Fol-de-Roll,
I'm a Troll,
Fol-de-Roll,
I'm a Troll,
Fol-de-Roll,
And I'll eat you,
for supper. . . .

[One of the sings of my childhood]

I had that on a 78 rpm record when I was too young to work the gramophone. My brother or sister had to play it for me. They soon got bored with it. It lasted about six months before I dropped it and it broke. They were delighted. :(

I annoyed my siblings with my horrid piano playing, as a child.

Fucking trolls.

I left my account open earlier today while I raided the drinks cabinet, and my friend thought it would be a really jolly jape to jump on my keyboard and post a snotty comment at random, so he did, on on an older (2006) story, and I just want to go on record as saying it wasn't me, I don't do that kind of thing, I never have, and I never will. My dad brought me up to believe that if you can't say something nice, say nothing at all, and it worries me that people will now get the impression I'm some sort of troll. I gave my pal a good kick up the arse, but he really can't see that he did anything wrong; 'it's all anonymous, isn't it? It's not like anyone knows who you really are...' was his parting shot, and he couldn't understand that my reputation here, such as it is, is really all I have on Lit, and now he's pretty much made me troll-fodder. I really don't want the poor guy whose story he trashed to think it was me, when in reality it was a jackass with one too many beers down his neck. I apologised, what else could I do, but the harm has already been done. Sometimes i wonder about some of my friends...
