I've been good - now have my 2nd degree black belt, and have started teaching.

Miss y'all too

Got a flat tire while trying to drive to poker last night. Had to get it towed (no spare tire) and have my brother pick me up. I needed new back tires anyway, but I would have preferred if my brother had been the one to do it because it would have been cheaper ;)

Well done, Lady. You've earned it.
As I recall you were last heard working on a new katana (?).
What's the latest news ?

I've started trying to master the tessen (war fans). Beautiful weapon - extremely hard to learn. I suppose that's why it's considered an "optional" weapon.

So far I'm proficient with nunchuks, bo staff, tonfas, sais, and the katana. My kamas need some work, but I'm getting there. :)

Competed in a tournament in September, and took 2nd overall in the black belt division, which was way better than I figured I'd do, since I was competing with ALL female black belts of all ranks.

Now I'm getting my students ready for their tournament at the end of this month. That's the real test: how well they do.

Its amazing to get paid for doing something I love. :)

I'll have to look that lot up.

I've been doing them on Youtube. . .

My brother got us a Netflix subscription and although my daughter has watched a lot of Yu-gi-oh (cartoon), I've found I like watching the documentaries. I don't have much opportunity to watch them otherwise. ESPN has a series of sports-related docs called "30 for 30," and I've watched several of those. Also one on Mel Brooks, "Night of the Living Dead," and now Joan Rivers. It's quite cool.

Buy a patch kit.

Buy a patch kit.

The car came with a patch kit/compressor instead of a spare tire. But I used that last month when one of the front tires went flat and never really thought much about it after that ;)

Also, it didn't really work all that well...

I've never heard of a car coming without a spare, was it new or used when you bought it?

It was a brand new 2010 Chevy Camaro. The battery is where the spare would be. It has a well for the spare, but there is a battery there instead with the patch kit above it.

I should be writing my second Valentine's Day entry.

I've got to check the inventory of my son-in-law's new to him rented house, and then go shopping. :(

Off to renew driver's licenses, then a slightly belated birthday lunch for PennBoy. Hopefully all goes smoothly.

We are just arising in San Francisco and will drive back up to our Sierra Nevada mountain hamlet in a few hours. A great few days here, stomping around our old home grounds, having fun with the kids & grandkids (no, not *that* kind of fun), and eating well. Yum.
