Yes! They should absolutely follow up any reports like that incase they're a genuine risk to kids but he wasn't a threat at all. The judge said it didn't matter, the words alone were enough. He threatened to shoot up a school. You can sort of see why the dibble might be a bit over cautious.
The words are enough. The sentence is appropriate. Hopefully he learns from this and isnāt stupid enough to do this again.Yes! Stuff like this makes me want to say stop this rock I want off.The words are enough. The sentence is appropriate. Hopefully he learns from this and isnāt stupid enough to do this again.
Do you work in a school? Are you a teacher who worries about the safety of their students every day? Have you done run, hide, fight drills with fourth graders? I have. Itās the stuff of nightmares. We had a middle school kid (age 12) bring in C4 in his backpack. C4! He was expelled. There is no room to not take threats seriously. The Texas shooter actually told someone he was about to do it and she didnāt call authorities because she didnāt think he would actually do it. Imagine living with the repercussions of not taking it seriously.Stuff like this makes me want to say stop this rock I want off.
Days ago cops stood outside a school while children were dying. Now they're policing children's picture messages while the gun lobby spouts worse aaaallll over social media and gets away with it.
Is there any wonder people lose respect for the law? Take it into their own hands at times?
I still played with Barbies when I was 13. Kids grow up so much faster than we did.Is the kid of sound mind? Iām not trying to be a cunt, but itās a bit of a worry that a 10 year old would even think to joke about mass murder and assault rifles, let alone try to be ācoolā and text other kids about it. Pretty sure I was thinking about My Little Pony when I was 10.
Play stupid games win stupid prizes.
I agree. The DUI driver deserves a much harsher consequence. He made a bad decision, but in no way did he endanger anyone, he gets 21 days.
A full grown adult gets 48 hours for DUI, ie. making a bad decision that puts lives at risk. 28 people a day die in DUI "accidents". Why the double standard?
Instead of taking this as a personal attack or an attack on your profession, perhaps do a quick risk assessment in your head.Do you work in a school? Was there a risk in this case?
No.
Is this child more dangerous than a drunk driver?
No.
Then why treat him like a felon for making a questionable joke?
Because of things other people have done for which this child should carry not one ounce of blame!
Yep. And then drop it if I realised they were joking. If someone text you that they were going to go shoot up a school Iād take that seriously, no matter what the age.
I think he'll need more than an assessment after the youth offenders system is through with himI wouldnāt be surprised if heās being assessed.
It's not a case of mass murder, it's a massive waste of resources and it protects no-one. Comparing a joke to a threat is apples and oranges in my humble opinion xComparing mass murder investigation to a DUI? Itās a bit apples oranges

Investigate... Find out it's a kid with no guns who messaged his friend. Logically what's next? In these days where resources are scarce, WTFNo, you wouldnāt just drop it. Thatās the thing. Theyād have to investigate. If they didnāt and something happened, then what? Itās a no-brainer.
There has been zero regard for his safety or wellbeingHeāll need to be assessed for his own safety, for one.
Yes. I am entitled to share that opinion, you don't have to agree. You think itās a waste of resources. In your opinion itās a waste of resources.
For the record, as an adult I expect to be held accountable for my actions and words and the harm they might do.You can joke and be as unfunny as you like, but as I said, you may win unfunny prizes.
Who are these people? I am regularly threatened with violence in my line of work (healthcare) I have been hit, spat at, shoved, fucking tickled at work.People complain when they arenāt thorough, people complain where they are.
You debate like a toddler and I'm naĆÆve?Thatās the thing. It wouldnāt just be dropped. Just because you think it should be, doesnāt mean it will be lol. That is a very immature, very naive train of thought youāve got going on there.
You debate like a toddler and I'm naĆÆve?
Listen, when the police perpetrate injustice on a child it is at their discretion. At any point they could assess the risk and drop it. They did not. If you think their reasons were noble, you're the one who's being naĆÆve.

Erm... It is. People have made some valid points and rebuttals ergo, debateItās not a debate.
Au contraire, if I didn't want to hear it I'd use the ignore featureYou just donāt want to hear it.
I called you no names. I stated a fact.No idea why youāre calling me names and getting emotional.
We call them adjectivesSome advice. Perhaps refrain from using describing words like ātoddlerā when you start a thread called āIs this shit for real?ā
It's a debateand then do nowt but complain the whole thread because you donāt receive the reactions you like.
I co-slept with all my kidsYou know. Like a toddler throwing toys out the cot.
Right. You could make at least one good point before you flounce off. Maybe share an opinion based on facts? You know... Like in a debate?Just saying.
Why? ROFL.Calm the fuck down lol.
I doubt it. I come here for entertainment when I'm bored, doesn't seem as though anyone else is as bothered by the police SNAFU. The only thing I resent is your failure to back up your opinions with a single fact.Newbie thinks their opinions are facts. Thatās cute.
Bring on the meltdown in 3..2..1..
