I'm on Yahoo chatting with this gal, ok. We are chatting away and all of a sudden, she stops. Nothing, silence.

Well lookie there, she popped on my MSN.

Zamdrist: Problems?

Chickie: A friend invited me to netmeeting.

Zamdrist: Oh.

Chickie: Gotta reboot, brb

<end>

Now, I don't want to be <gasp> clingy but don't you think it would have been curteous for her to have said that. I mean, had I not inquired, would she have said anything?

<sigh>

Definitely rude. An IM conversation is a conversation. If you don't want to participate anymore, say so. It's like walking out of the room in the middle of a face to face conversation. Most people would never consider doing that but they "disappear" in IM conversations and think nothing of it.

Yes I think it's rude.:(
It's one thing if you both understand that your talking to someone else. But without telling the other person?
RUDE!!!!!!!

Apparently the guy on Netmeeting is more inteesting. And yes, I too have a cam?

:confused:

:pissed:

:irritated:

Oh wait, those are'nt emoticons. Oh well.

I dissapear all the time. Because I leave my MSN on always, It doesn't mean I want to chat always. I'll pop up my little head every once in awhile, pop back out.

Actually, when I walk out of a room I don't always say "Hey, I'm kind of hungry, can we end this discussion now?" Likewise, when I'm hungry I don't announce it to somebody I'm chatting with on MSN.

But, I guess it's all about personal preferences. Maybe I'm rude? How come no ones told me? :mad:

It is rude to walk away from a one-to-one conversation in an IM. You do it to me and I'll think you're rude, yes. Just be curteous, that's all. Chat rooms, the rules are more loose.

:confused:

Sometimes you just have nothing left to say to each other. Why is that rude if the conversation stops?

There are times when I'm not there, even when I'm signed on. I might get a phone call, or I might have gone out, whatever- if I'm not in the middle of a conversation with someone but have been iming here and there, I don't feel the need to tell them.

When it happens to me, I just figure that the other person isn't at their computer or isn't in the mood to talk- no biggie.

What if the convo. is el dorko?

Example:

So what you doin?

~Nothing. You?

Nothing.

~Man I'm so hungry.

I just ate.

<Silence>

?Should this end how?

'~' going off to eat, and not saying a word?

-OR-

~Ok, this is really fucking boring, and I'm really hungry. I'm now leaving. Bye. (Substitute with your personal life line.)

:confused:

Is "Chickie" her name or how you refer to women?

Hmmm now that could be considered rude. :D

Yes, leaving without even saying "Gotta run" isn't very polite.

I'm not talking about a natural break in a conversation. I'm talking about stopping and disappearing right in the middle of one.

You all are not getting it.

I don't know what to say anymore...I call Tess a lovely woman and she bites my head off, for example. I don't know what to call anyone anymore! ;)

No wiggles, I can't account for every condition, every incidence.

But if you're familiar with the person, have chatted in the past...then don't just walk away from the conversation. Be curteous.

Simple, be curteous.

Guess what?

Whatever she did that pissed you off? She'll do it again. :)

Im gonna have to go with maybe she is a rude no class bitch but then again I may be wrong...

*im in a mood*

I agree and yes I think it is rude too. I also think it is somewhat rude to be talking to someone else at the same time and be drifting off because now you want to talk with someone else. Just tell me by saying so and then we can politely end the conversation. My ex-wife used to do something similar; she would talk to me on the phone and to someone else in the room with her - not just a reply to a question, but a full blown conversation.

You're more right than you even realize ;)

I doubt it. One om my current interpersonal things to focus on is behavior and how it is to be trusted.

Fool me once- shame on you.
Fool me twice- shame on me.

Who was it? Inquiring minds want to know.

It was my fucking date for Sunday, the very same bitch who stood me up.
