Is Obama America's Henry VIII?

There is no reason the admnistration couldn't have included the conscience exemption for religious institutions in Obamacare, as it had originally promised it would. The percentage of people that would not be covered with the benefits is a miniscule part of the entire workforce.

The goal most clearly is to shut down religious owned institutions or secularize them. In other words, ultimately bring them under the control of the government and the Democratic Party.

How many Baptist, Catholic and Jewish Hospitals are there?

And why is that a religious as opposed to a medical service? Are exorcisms somehow involved? :/

According to a Time article in 1965 the Roman Catholic church was estimated to have between $10 and $15 billion dollars. Think about that for a second. In 1965 they had $10 billion.

Keep in mind that the church pays no taxes, spends absurd amounts of money, and in some countries even takes tax dollars away from the state.

The religious people already own the Republican Party. They all voted for Romeny and lost. You may want to read something besides the daily caller because in case you forgot Tucker Carlson is a clown.

Yes there are reasons and they've been stated many times. You choose to not listen and remain ignorant.

Is there anything you're not afraid of?

Reading this story, it reminded me of Henry VIII's dissolution of the monasteries:
...

Pretty sad. :(

I (as Henry VIII) wanted the money and the power that the religious organisations had. They owned a third of my country; anyone who could claim 'benefit of clergy' could evade my laws; and they all acknowledged their Pope as their leader, not me.

I got the money. I took back control of my country. Everyone was subject to my laws (and my headsman's axe).

No US President has had the power I had. Most, whether Democrat or Republican, must have wished they had an official headsman with an every-ready axe. Of course, before beheading, everyone had a fair trial in one of my courts. I decided what was 'fair'. I decided the composition and role of my courts and could hire and fire (or execute) judges who didn't decide the way I wanted.

Religious exemption? If a religious organisation wants exemption it can have it - as long as they pay taxes like any commercial company and outsource the parts of the Federal requirements they find unpalatable.

Jesus said it:

Matthew ch.22 v.21 Render therefore unto Caesar the things that are Caesar's; and unto God the things that are God's.

Pay your taxes!

Sweet. Not just a pretty face, Og.

People refuse to see it but Obama is a Nigger thug right outta one of Chester Himes Harlem novels. Whats missing from the drama are ethical black cops who drag his ass off to jail for selling 'tickets to heaven' to poor people.

There's a lady who's sure that all that glitters is gold,
And she's buying a stairway to heaven...

Clerics, pols, and elites never pay income taxes. Examine any regime before it fell, and you'll find the same circumstances, only the peasants and shop-keepers pay taxes.

Funny how they run about screaming TAX THE RICH, TAX THE RICH, even knowing first hand from personal experience in the work place that shit rolls downhill...

Funny how even the richest in your country say TAX US MORE, it can't be that I pay less taxes than my secretary.

They say this because shit is already rolling.

A few political activists who purchases indulgences for themselves.

Take Warren Buffet's well-documented efforts at tax avoidance for his company through the legal purchase of legislation...

He only pays himself $100K. ;) ;)

When Government gets so powerful that its purchase price is cost effective, even imperative, to business, then business will purchase government indulgences.

About half the millionaires in the US voted for Obama in an election where the focus was each candidate's economic plan. AJ calls that "a few".

Nobody cares about legal tax avoidance. I disputed taxes with the IRS for two years and it turns out that they ruled in my favor. Am I therefore immoral?

Again, they said "tax us more", not "we will pay more because we're so unbelievable benign"...

...there are some people in your country who realized that "the government" is not the alien spaceship to be shooten down, and that taxes, especially from the atm low-taxed richt, can solve some fiscal problems....

AJ also believes that Obama is a Kenyan citizen who snuck into America and forged a social security number and birth certificate. And he also believes someone else wrote Obama's books - Obama actually stole them. He believes that all these things are "well-documented".

There are also some people who realize that the taxes they are demanding on the rich will fund the government for about six fucking days and then who will they tax next...

Human nature does not change any more than political foible and economic farce.

In America, they first came for the very rich and I didn't speak up because I wasn't rich," said the Rev. Imadem Doinggood. "Then they came for the Bourgeoisie and I didn't speak up because I wasn't Bourgeois. Then they came for the Upper Middle Class blue-collar workers. I didn't speak up because I was a Government clerk. Then they came for me and there was no one left to speak up.

They become apt to take because they wish to spend and cannot do this easily; for their possessions soon run short. Thus they are forced to provide means from some other source. At the same time, because they care nothing for honor, they take recklessly and from any source.
Aristotle

"To be ignorant of the past is to be forever a child. For what is the time of a man, except it be interwoven with that memory of ancient things of a superior age?"
Marcus Tullius Cicero

The technique of these parties is based on the division of society into producers and consumers. They are also wont to make use of the usual hypostasis of the state in questions of fiscal policy that enables them to advocate new expenditures to be paid out of the public treasury without any particular concern on their part over how such expenses are to be defrayed, and at the same time to complain about the heavy burden of taxes.
The other basic defect of these parties is that the demands they raise for each particular group are limitless. There is, in their eyes, only one limit to the quantity to be demanded: the resistance put up by the other side. This is entirely keeping with their character as parties striving for privileges on behalf of special interests. Yet parties that follow no definite program, but come into conflict in the pursuit of unlimited desires for privileges on behalf of some and for legal disabilities for others, must bring about the destruction of every political system.

Ludwig von Mises

We are spending $1.00 for every $0.50 we raise in revenue. Taxes are not the answer.

A lot of them also think that taxes on themselves should increase more than 4%.
