I think it is possible to stay friends but you do need to ensure neither of you are looking for sexual relations with each other. That can really complicate things. After 8 years together you must have a solid friendship and i think if you both want to try, its certainly worth giving friendship a go.
Now im not trying to be mean or nasty but i know if my partner had constantly been telling me to find a younger man for the sexual side i would have felt slightly offended but thats just my opinon .
And the fact shes gone for an older man must mean she prefers older men anyway.
I can see her point of view. Im in my twenties and much prefer men in their 40's to guys my own age, its the whole maturity and reliabilty factor.

You mention what GF wants but not what you desire. Anything is possible; it just depends how much effort you want to put into changing the relationship. I think it’s more important to decide what you want.
