do leather pants look very unflattering on women who aren't very thin?

Someone took me shopping for an early Christmas present yesterday (my sister's father- long story), and I got a lined leather jacket for winter. He convinced me to try on a pair of leather pants, even though I didn't want to. I tried them on anyway, and I thought they looked horrible. He said that they looked fine, and insisted on me getting them as well. When I got home, I tried them on again and they look AWFUL!!! Now I have to lose about 15 pounds for them to even look halfway decent and then they'll be too big in the legs.

I love my Red Snake Skin pants....

And though I don't feel all that sexy in them, I have been told they look great on me. I guess it's just how we see ourselves in them and not how everyone else does.

Possibly- but I just feel like they don't look good on me- I might have to get other people's opinions on them *sigh*....

Thanks, Lexie, but I'm just not feeling it... It might be the season or something- it seems I always feel this way around this time of year...

Fly, I already have leather panties- they go with an, ahem, "outfit" I have- lol.

And I don't have a camera on hand to take a pic- I don't know if I'd want everyone here to see it anyway.

Leather pants look great if your one of the 0.2% of women who have the perfect figure to get away with them...for all the rest they look ok-ish.

Long story short, if you don't feel happy with them then take them back and get something you really want rather than just having them hanging in the closet taking up space.

I agree with you Outsider. If I returned them ,there's nothing there that I'd want to get instead- we got it at a leather warehouse place, so I'd be really limited in my choices. I think I'll keep them as an incentive to lost weight though.

And Fly, e-mail addy or not, I just don't have a camera to take pics, so nyah! :p

How about another leather jacket or a purse, maybe you could get them to make you up something special ;) .......like a whip

I agree with the others - I am sure you looked fine!

Leather has a bit of forgiveness, but I wonder why some people insist on wearing spandex in public when that shows every lump, bump and freckle! :)

let me just say that there is an extent as to what people should or shouldnt wear.. leather pants included in that.. i'm sure you look fine in them lilminx, although i know i wouldnt. my sister has a pair of them and she looks absolutely terrible in them (her butt is too big for them especially since she wears a short halter top with them *shudders at thought* and the legs are way too big too)

but it depends on the person, the figure, etc.. i know after seeing my sister in those things i wont ever consider getting a pair of them (i think my butt is too big for them to ever look nice)

and besides, if you lose like 15 lbs or so.. maybe you can excange them for a different size so they fit right

Heehee... I was thinking boots, but I didn't see any there, and i don't think that they make anything on order. I couldn't buy another jacket there for what the cost of the pants were. I didn;t pay for them anyway.

WaU- I hear what you're saying- I have the opposite problem though. I don't have a big butt- I have a big waist, so I had to buy pants to fit my waist, but they're big on my legs...

BarbDwyer- yeah- even at the gym, I see people wearing some really awful things!

lilminx I'm sure you look great in leather.

You look fine in them babe. Of course *wink* I'd probably like you better without them. Get some more opinions, then strut your stuff. Have fun in your leathre girl! Show us what you're working with!! *grinning and winking*

Your attitude has alot to do with it too...if you think you look horrible in something it usually makes you feel horrible and ppl pick up on that too and they won't think your so hot either...and I'm pretty sure I've seen more than .2% of women in leather pants and most of them look good to me...wish I could wear em :) and if that's you in the pic lilminx then I see no reason you wouldn't look great :) anyhow...you could always give em to charity ;) :)

If you don't like them, you won't choose to wear them. I felt that way about cowboy boots when I was younger, but there was 'pressure' to wear them. Then Hush Puppies came out with that ad that went, "You can't be cool, if your feet are uptight." Ever since, I wear what feels good to me, and I don't wear what doesn't feel good, even if others think it looks good. I try to keep only the clothes that I feel good, and don't worry about the rest.

I don't have a digital camera or a webcam... sorry Pheonyx, but you'll just have to come here and take the pic yourself.

don't be silly

listen dirty, last night i saw this chick in a pair of leather pants. they were waaay too tight. my date agreed, but it wasn't the girl's body. (The fact that they were all shiny didn't help.) the fact is you don't have to have the perfect body for leather pants. they just have to fit right. they're probably fine. in my mind they look incredible!!!

lilminx, I am sure you look fine in those leather pants! But, if you don't feel comfortable in them don't wear them. I know how you feel. I own a pair of leather pants. I wear them occasionally when I go out to clubs (it's dark in there:) ) I don't have a big waist, just hips...the child bearing kind. Makes it almost impossible to find pants flattering when you have a small waist and big hips. Some guys like curves, I would rather be without!:D

I liked Outsiders idea of the whip!:p And, if you ever do take pictures of you in those leather pants.....I'm sure you will make plenty of people happy.;)

you are right rose.

i don't know if you've ever seen her. she is absolutly gorgeous. a pic of her in those pants would light this place up! of course i get to be one of the lucky few who see the real deal live!!

I said the same damn thing... but like i said arguing with a women is like telling a wall to move.

There's this really interesting paper I got in my psych class, I wish I had a scanner so I could show it to you guys. It demonstrates the difference between the way women see themselves, the way they are, and the way men would like them to be. Most women see themselves as roughly 15-30 lbs heavier than they actually are. An outgrowth of a superficial culture I suppose...

Besides, sexiness is not a state of looking, it is a state of mind. I've seen women with drop dead figures who weren't the slightest bit sexy, and women with "bad" figures who would make any man walk funny for a few hours. It's all in how you percieve yourself, your self-confidence, your style...

Leather pants on a woman with a big waist or big hips isn't bad. What's bad is a woman wearing a bright pink midi shirt when she's nine months pregnant. *saw that in a book store once*
