Is blobfish a Racist?

*cough*

My son just said "I find I'm using more similes in my discussions. For instance, friends are like toothpicks. I usually use them to get out something annoying, then when I'm done with them they're either broken or disgusting and I throw them away."

Hah.

That belongs in a book.

Smother him in his sleep.

How old is this kid?

Hah.

He's a really good writer, and I encourage him to do it. He has female characters in his stories.
In reality, he's cute, he's charming, and girls like him. He doesn't get it and considers it puzzling. In his story, his main character (him, only with superpowers) has adopted as part of his crew, a female robot who finds him attractive and expresses that by saying "You're the only one that's funny and sane at the same time." and a universal muse who gives every artist in the universe their ideas. "You know lady Gaga? I did that."

We're...working on spelling and grammar. He unfortunately missed out on the hyperlexic aspect.

He's smart, especially for that age.

Well, he's really brilliant. He's socially stunted, but he's a genius in many ways and I'm comparatively a moron.

Bridge is out to some parts of his brain, but the rest is doing even better.

I think autism is just another social niche that it's possible to fill in modern times. Lots of inventors have been autistic. As long as somebody makes sure they eat and get sleep (two things he's not particularly interested in unless we're talking Rice Krispy Treats and exhaustion after playing games for 48 hours straight) they do fine and contribute loads if they are a savant in a particular area, which he is, in several.

I think he'll get a job as a game developer or a zoologist.

He has the instincts of a 2 year old and has merely vocalized them without any self-awareness. How is that smart for that age?

He has Asperger's syndrome, a spectrum of autism. He's probably not going to progress much further unfortunately socially, though he might. But he can hit the nail on the head precisely in terms of expressing what goes on inside his thought process.

Yes, I know.

His wording was very insightful. I could not come up with something like that. That might not mean much, though.

Reci, feverplant appears to be a bellend.

Yes, it is. I posted it because I think that's what you're perceived as doing here. Using people to get out something annoying. With the result of people thinking you're treating them like toothpicks. Again, that's why you remind me of him. You're both very smart and have good things to say, you just have to get past the other stuff that comes with it. I don't think he's broken, I just think he's different. I don't think you're broken, and I think you're worth knowing as he is.

Moron? I think not:rolleyes:

No, I am. Little things like when we were on a trip, I almost got back on the wrong bus and he said "Mom, that bus has the wrong number on it." There were about 12 buses in the fleet and he happened to notice all the numbers and I didn't.

Or...when he was littler he'd go out into the backyard and find me a four leaf clover. He'd look until he found one, very patiently, for hours. Then bring it to me. Once I dropped one and it was just...gone. It was tiny and must have made it under some piece of furniture on a drift of the wind and we couldn't find it. He just sighed and said "Never mind. I'll get you another one." And he did.

He memorizes the physical universe and has an ability to lightning calculate and notice patterns in humans and animals and mechanical things and games that I completely lack. In comparison in these areas, I am a moron.
