And that means realizing that these are molecules, made of atoms, made of Protons, Neutrons, and Electrons, the first two of which are made of Quarks, held together with a force which becomes stronger with distance. So, I am aware of that all the time. It keeps me fascinated about how stuff happens.

I get what you're saying. I just don't think that it is a real solution for repeated and constant abuse. You're suggesting misdirection, which is fine. It's very Tai Chi and works for you. It's cerebral and it's funny. It's more my approach. It works on a verbal level and on a board level.

But if you were in that bar, it would just result in a brawl, not the guy drawing his brows together and starting to think about it.

That approach doesn't work for other people. Zumi himself has said that he's terribly tired of the cerebral, the turn the other cheek and the funny. To him, it's affected his life enough that he's not interested in playing with the idea any more. And that doesn't mean he's being controlled by words, that means that he's had too much experience with one form of aggression and he is not playing around, and that the cutesy or smartassy will just lead to more aggression anyway. The people who say these things do not think in cerebral and funny ways and can't be dealt with that way.

You'll forgive me if I don't think it's funny either, or if I am annoyed by "man up" and "pussy" and any other term that is broadly used in cultural patois that mostly means "You're acting like a girl." It's intended to demean women or gay men as the template against which you are compared and found wanting.

It is symbolic of an ugly mindset. That's the contact that's being experienced, not the words themselves. The words could certainly be swapped out for other terms.

True story: I tried making chit-chat with an Hell's Angels guy once. In the past, their members used to rock swastika imagery. I'm not sure about now, but some spots just don't disappear easily. Anyway, I asked him a question about something related that was going on in the area where their clubhouse was, seeking to get into a convo with him if possible. He gave me a cordial three word answer with the tone of "I don't really want to talk to you" behind it and that was that.

Now, if they wanna talk to me for whatever reason at some point in the future, I'm all ears. But I gave it a go in the spirit of goodwill towards another human being I didn't know...aaaaand there's no need for me to go there again.

There are different ways of handling it, and it all depends on the situation. From my perspective, if I have to resort to violence than I lose, plain and simple and not because I can't fight well. I can. I choose not to (unless the threat is physical and I am defending myself from actual harm) because it is not consistent with my beliefs.

I was at a party once and this woman who was a friend of my ex started ranting about how the Jews control america. Instead of taking offense I started asking her questions about it which really highlighted her own ignorance and hatred. By the time I was done with her, she had made herself look like a complete idiot and no one at the party wanted anything to do with her.

People who make racist statements make themselves look like idiots. It doesn't matter whether it's the original offender like busybody screaming nigger or VBM responding by calling him a J. They both made themselves look like morons.
