Iran

But you are fine with Iran attacking tankers, U.S drone in international waters

That's right!
I truly believe he is fine with it as long as an (R) is in the White House.

(It's a lot like AOC using the Obama-era pictures of children in cages
to accuse Trump of running [Nazi] concentration camps...)

Again, you completely misunderstand how the chain of authority in the military works. He currently has the authorization for the use of military force. He wouldn't even need to use that to commence hostilities with Iran. He could also use the War Powers Act. Which also ought to be rescinded.

What the administration is doing is baiting the Congress into rescinding the aumf which they have every authority and frankly the responsibility to do. If they do that it gives Trump cover if Iran acts up further, because he would then need to go to Congress and get concurrence as he shoukd.

The way Congress prefers to leave it is leave him the tools to do what he wants and then blame him for action or inaction whichever way he decides to go.

Congress doesn't get to shake their fingers while not using their actual legitimate powers.

They and you need to join the grown-ups at the table.

The IRGC has been labeled as a terrorist organization by the U.S. which would fall under the AUMF should the burden of proof lead the the IRGC, No one wants a war with Iran and the thought that we would engage in a land war where actual territory would be taken is pretty far fetched. It would likely be a response to a provocation against our interest in neutral waters that would be met with a measured response with a very specific target set to greatly weaken their ability to project military capability and damage some critical infrastructure, oil rigs, crater airfield runways, take out air to air or air to ship missile systems and naval installations.

U.S. Holds All the Cards in the Showdown with Iran

...

Iran, of course, is not always a rationale actor. A haughty Tehran always magnifies its own importance and discounts the real dangers that it is courting. It harkens back to its role in the 2003–2011 Iraq War, a conflict that proved that U.S. efforts could be subverted, hundreds of American soldiers could be killed, public support for war could be eroded, and a more malleable American government could be transitioned in.

But what worked then may not work now. The U.S. is not only the world’s largest producer of oil and natural gas, but soon to become the largest exporter of energy — and without getting near the Iranian coast. Likewise, American allies in the Middle East such as Israel are energy independent. America’s Arab friends enjoy seeing competing Iranian oil all but off the market.

Time, then, is on the Americans’ side. But it is certainly not on the side of a bankrupt and impoverished Iran that either must escalate or face ruin.

If Iran starts sinking ships or attacking U.S. assets, Trump can simply replay the ISIS strategy of selective off-and-on bombing. The U.S. did not lose a single pilot to enemy action....

The War Powers Act has never been reviewed by the SCOTUS, if it were it would probably be declared an unconstitutional infringement on the Art II powers of the Executive. We have a history of armed conflicts with foreign powers going back over 200 years, starting with the Second President in which no declaration of war by Congress was declared and no President impeached.

If you want to see an explosion in the civil society let Iran put 5000 American sons and daughters on the bottom of the ocean because the president has his hands tied by congressional enemies wanting to run the nation's foreign policy.
Congressional enemies? Do you mean the duly elected representatives of the American people? Or has Congress been infiltrated by the puppets of foreign governments?

Iran needs a war to help quell the unrest of the populace. They will prod and poke in order to try to get Trump to make a political mistake at the start of an election cycle.

What they don't realize is that many American's don't care if Trump makes a political mistake in this regard. If the US goes up against Iran, Iran is doomed. Even if Trump loses the election, Iran loses everything.

Trump just tweeted: "Iran made a very big mistake."

He is correct.

The question which remains is what will the US do about it?

IMO, a limited retaliatory missile strike is worthless because our enemies have come to expect them. If that's all Trump does, he loses this round. Just like all past President's have lost when presented with the same gambit and choices.

They can mine their naval installations, take out a few oil rigs, crater airfields with Tomahawks, all standoff retaliation methods. They can't easily replace military assets that are destroyed.

He could take out their air defense systems in the area.

This is the standard response. Our enemies know this is the standard response, so they vacate their positions and remove assets until after the missile strike is concluded.

They lose almost nothing. We spend millions countering a $2 bluff and fold.

How about the US stops flying drones around the borderline of the airspace and provoking Iran?

The sheeple are falling for it again.

So, we cannot fly in international airspace? Iran is the victim, right? American bad! Typical Democrat.

America is not bad. What a silly thing to think.

The military-industrial complex is bad. False reasons to go to war (Gulf of Tonkin, WMDs, etc) are horribly bad. Provocation as a prelude to war is bad. Making pretend the AUMF gives authority to launch an unprovoked war is criminally bad.

Fuck the Gulf of Tonkin, ancient history/

So Iran shooting down a US military Drone worth millions over international waters isn't a provocation worthy of a military response? You think the "military-industrial complex" in the US is responsible?

It's an orchestrated pre-election poll-booster by Trump's super clever PR guy, Trump.

How about you stop supporting islamic terrorists

Time to take out the Iran leadership just as we would with Al Quada and Isis

For two weeks in March, the war on terror was over. Two weeks after ISIS was defeated in Syria, Trump declared that the IRGC were terrorists, and the war on terror continues.
