(I posted this on the GB too, but thought I'd try my luck here as well.)

I need a little ipod help.

I have an older ipod (the U2 version). I've had it for a little over 2 years. I haven't had any issues or complaints about it till recently.

About a month ago I turned it on and all my songs were gone. I plugged it back into my computer (and no, not all the songs on my ipod are on my itunes) and everything went back to normal.

Since then, whenever I plug it into my computer it won't let me disconnect - I have to shut down the computer in order to disconnect. And it skips over songs. Then last night I had it on and it was making a weird sound on some songs (kind of like a needle scratching a record) and just skipped over every other song.)

So - any ideas as to what is going on and how I can fix this problem?

This isn't an answer but it looks like you hit the warranty wall. Some people say that once the warranty on ipods runs out they crash soon after. Mine is about the same age and I'm just waiting for something to happen. Hope some one can help you

not sure if might help!

Have you tried completely removing the current version of software that runs the ipod? this may help and also another way to stop these sort of problems is to continuely update the ipod version! i say this because alot of people don't. the reason they update ipod versions is because they are able to find solutions or 'patchs' (addition to software) which eliminates the problem. Go to apples ipods home page and get the latest version for your ipod.

Good luck and continuely up date ya ipod and ya itunes version as new and awsome stuff continues to be created

Mine did a similar song skipping thing, it played a few seconds then just carried right on to a different tune! They just replaced it as I had the Apple care thing.. definately worth it if you have to buy a new one. Maybe worth going into the store and asking them ifthere's anything they can do?

Hi Pretty,

Mine is doing something similar. I noticed this past week that the IPOD would not disconnect. I found two ways to solve this.. the first is as you are doing.. shut down computer. The other way that seems to work is to just turn off itunes and restart it.

Recently I had some other issues too. It appears my songs have been duplicated.

I had a little chance this past weekend to do some investigative work on the itunes forum. It appears my issues are related to when I installed the newest version of ITUNES.

Personally, I have been skeptical about upgrading the iTunes software as often as they would like us to. It now appears my skepticism is valid. Damn those APPLE PEOPLE.

Hope that helps.

So the mystery machine is up and running again. I plugged it back into my computer and everything worked like normal...(I was nervous about plugging it in since in the past I have had a few problems with that.)

But thank you to everyone who gave their advice.
