While I disagree with a lot of that, I think his comments equating having Aspegergers with sin are absolutely incorrect and terrible for a public figure to make.

I don't think he was equating the two. I think he was saying that blaming mental illness is not the thing to do (nor is blaming guns).

I think he was saying that the sin in this world and the asking God to get out of our collective lives.....that is what led to the shooting on Friday and the crimes in general in this country.

Along with the gun control mental illness needs to be addressed more. Loved ones who deal with these people are often passed back and forth between agencies. I know from first hand experience with my brother. It shouldn't have taken five years for my family to get assistance.

I watched it again....and I see the part you speak of.

I am not him and he can explain his own statements as people will see things differently. I saw him as saying that there are so many people who are said to have some sort of disorder or something like that. Yes, there are those who truly do....but sometimes, it is just sin....sometimes it is just evil and that person really does not have a mental illness.

....that is how I heard it, so just perhaps that is how he meant it....not that mental illness is a sin.
