Many supporters of the President and elected officials are calling for Trump to invoke the Insurrection Act in yet another attempt to forcibly take control of the Executive Branch of the US Federal Govt and suspend US citizens civil liberties.

Invoking the Insurrection Act would deprive all US citizens of their Rights...including the Rights of Trump Supporters.

This does not seem to compute with this crowd.

Because that's totally the American thing to do - take over the country by force if you don't get your way.

I expect nothing less of the hypocritical trumpers.

Criminal Flynn wants Loser Trump to stage a military coup. Here’s betting the military will tell Loser Trump to go pound sand.

Yup. Trump is digging his hole deeper and deeper, and is dragging the Republican Party into the hole with him.

Damn, Mitt looks better and better every day! Hope a few other Pubs rejoin with sanity.

Our rights don't matter to you guys, why should yours matter to us??

Consider it a "mostly peaceful" protest.

:D Fuck you kiwi commie scum.

Trump is nothing more than a paper tiger at this point during this lame duck session, but it sure is funny to see his cult followers believe that he can pull a coup d'etat.

Cult-45 members sure are out of touch with reality.

Hello racist, infidel and traitor to the USA.

They should be legal in every state. Every state in the country has a law that allows the state governor and local heads of government to implement restrictions on all sorts of things during declared emergencies. They're allowed to do things like restrict sales of alcohol and weapons, impose curfews, prioritize certain activities over others, suspend commercial operations, restrict movement and assembling of persons, and to "take prudent steps" (or some such language - varies from state to state) to address any given emergency. Those laws have been on the books and have been being used for decades now.

Certainly, requiring the wearing of masks falls well within those caveats for a public health emergency. For a court to decide that they don't suggests that some factor other than a legitimate interpretation of those laws is infecting the adjudication process.

.
Creeping Charlie constantly attempts to justify Trump's fascist and treasonous actions by pointing to legitimate health, safety, and election decisions made by Democrat AND Republican state officials in the face of a pandemic.

It's like Creeping Charlie is a stupid fascist traitor or something.

Rule of law isn't fascism or treason.

It's like you don't know what either of those words mean or something. ;)

This is true...but it requires them making a formal declaration of an emergency...just like if a storm comes through and they deploy the National Gaurd to prevent looting. Only problem...many Republicans refused to do anything but follow in the lockstep of the Fascist leader

There haven't been "fascists" in 70 years.

Maybe you can find some windmills to tilt at or some unicorns to chase around. Statistically its more realistc.

Trump wanted to deploy the National Guard to restore law and order from ANTIFA fascist, BLM marxist in Seattle, Portland, DC and a whole host of democratically run shitholes, the Ds are the idiots that refused law and order, rather go with the summer of love. LMFAO! Now them democrat shitstain governors are imposing martial law over their subjects eliminating any semblance of our constitutional bill of rights in the name of progress. RULES FOR THEE BUT NOT FOR MEEEEE

ineedhelp is living proof that republicans really are "that stupid".

It isn't even worth explaining the irony and hypocrisy in his/her post.

Isn't the above a State matter? So why is the federal government sticking it's nose, or even contemplating sticking it's nose into a States matter? Seems kind of against the whole concept of your Union of States????

Now if the State asked for help, that might be a different matter...but they have not.

Mask mandates, stay at home orders and business closures are all within the legal rights of any Governor if any State. The differences.are political.in who is exercising it. That is all that is going on.

So ok I searched, and I cannot find one single State Governor imposing Martial Law.

Not like I thought I would, just more of your over the top hyperbole eh Ican?

It's not a State matter except that it pays nicely into the radical rights fascist playbook on totalitarian power or appearance of power.

The response to looting and protests that turned violent were pretty much the same in so called "red and blue" states. No Mayor or Governor sided or allowed this kind of behavior to go on. Even in Philadelphia, which is something like 90% Democrat had a seriously strong police response to violence and looting.

Political operatives on both sides are able to create fictitious.narritives that just don't represent reality on the ground...

...that simple.minded folks like bobo digest as real.

It is sad really how gullible.many folks are.

Right! And the kind of lockdowns happening elsewhere in Europe and also the far east just don't happen here. In France, you get checked by police during lockdowns which has never happened anywhere in the US. The issuing of State cell phones or tracking devices for people either who either tested or are in quarantine, with serious fines and imprisonment for leaving the home or not answering the phone...never has happened here.

These folks who talk about martial law are living in a fantasy induced world where they think there is martial law somewhere "out there" or it's coming to their town...it's pure fantasy.

Governors can deploy state militias under state active duty status and each state has it's own National Guard, the president can direct a deployment of National Guard under title 32. State activation is prefered but if governors fail to act the president can mobilize NG troops organic to that state or federalize troops from another state under title 32. Any mobilization over 30 days entitles a soldier to title 10 compensation. Trump offered assistance in the way of authorized funding, some states did take up his offer, democrat run shitholes didn't

CA is basically under martial law, they basically lost most their rights under Newsome. He called a state of emergency to impose his rule over his subjects. I think there's a recall petition to get rid of that dictator. 850,000 signatures already acquired.
