Inspiration & Plot Ideas

I wish the inspiration would slow down slightly.

Even writing 15 plot lines for each of the last three contests hasn't made a noticeable dent in the outstanding pile of story ideas.

Og

Good for you, Og. I wish that I had an outstanding pile (of ideas - :p ) to just dig into at my leisure. ;)

People, places, songs, pictures, fantasies, dreams....

Like Og I have no problem with ideas... time to write them out is another thing.... I have over fifty in my notes directory and about the same number under construction at any given time... My editor is scared to death that I'll drop the whole thing on her all at one time....

My newest project is over 70k words and all from a picture of a friend of mine that i had looked at a thousand times. It's now up as my screen background and the ideas keep coming with no end in sight.

Everyone of my Erotic Couplings save Buzz Me was inspired by one of the ladies of the AH.

Of the others, I can only remember three where the inspiration came from.

Abyss was inspired by Colleen's Latin stories. I always wonder what the human monsters would do if they met a real monster.

Sasha and Karen: Night 1 was because I just could not stop thinking about what happened to these secondary characters after they left the other story they were in.

The Orange Slip was inspired by a painting I saw.

The rest I can't really remember their provenance.

Damn, I really need to do some in-depth reading of your stories, Rob. I haven't gotten to them yet, but I will. ;)

Goodnight, folks!

You could look at my 50-word stories and use any one of the 15 ideas in each as a basis for a full scale story. Be my guest...

Thanks for the offer, but I'll have to decline. I'd rather come up with my own plots. :)

Goodnight, folks!

Have you studied the picture you're using for an AV? blow it back up, sit back, and really look at it. The red hair, the smoldering look, the upturned ass...... ask yourself, why is she in this position, who is she looking at and why? What is she thinking, right this minute? The answers should give you a start for a story. I know it gives me a few ideas.......

Well, just to give an example, one early story that I did (with a 16 year old character, so it can't be posted on this site) was inspired a little by the epic movie "Spartacus", in that it involved a Master seducing a slave in the bath. There WAS an attempted seduction in that movie, although it used many euphemisms, was homoerotic, and the young man (26) escaped rather than service his Master.

Looking forward to your reaction, Aurora.

I treasure feedback from the people on the AH.

Oh yes, I just recalled. I Can't Have Her was also inspired by one of the women of the AH.

One of my stories is from a real life experience. It's basically a re-written journal entry. The rest is from daydreams. I have a vivid imagination.

Have a notebook handy to jot down your ideas the moment they come to you. It really helps. :)

I do,and my cell phone will hold up 60 minutes of voice recording. So I use that too, especially when Im driving....people for some reason get pissed off at me when I stop on the freeway to write down something...LOL...

So many different things...

two of my stories here actually happened in large part, although they have been slightly modified...

one was inspired by a bruise, believe it or not...

a two parter grew out of a jotted down physical description of a girl who was talking to a friend at a yogurt place...her name and her description is all I know about her...

several pieces come from other peoples fantasies that have been voiced to me...

"The Taste of Mint, The Taste of You" was inspired in part by Ravel's "Bolero."

Tx, by all means use those ideas! :D

Slowly pulling together the latest. Brothers Grimm. Manners and Customs of the Ancient Irish. "The Wasteland." Bit of The Hobbit. A voice from "The Crying Game"; someone's hat from Monty Python's "The Holy Grail."

Perhaps that should be in my "trademark" post. I've always got half a dozen other people's stories in my mind when I am writing. I kept track with the novel; the end note identifying them runs to near sixty names.

It occurred to me that a scene from a romance novel that I read years ago (funny how the subconscious works) also inspired "Bouquet." Lord of Sex, by Dara Joy.

The last love scene in the book took place in the greenhouse after a fancy dress ball. The heroine was tired and sore from dancing all night, and her husband (the Lord of Sex - :D ) laid her down amongst the flowers and massaged her from head to toe with essential oils, loosening and relaxing her muscles... just before making love to her. *swoon* ;)

Another source of inspiration for the "vulva-like petals" described in "Bouquet":

There's a porno that I have called "Zazel: The Scent of Love," and it has a scene where the main character is sitting at her art desk, painting flowers. But she wasn't using paper... :catroar:

Damn, I can't find any screenshots...

I was looking over "Be Mine" again last night, and it occurred to me that the subplot (if you can call it that) between Marie and Lily has a Cinderella-ish feel to it, like she's the Fairy Godmother with the magical solution to the younger woman's love troubles. Apparently I had this in mind when I wrote this:

Marie sighed in relief, unable to put into words the brief yet overwhelming fear that she'd experienced in those few seconds when she woke up without him lying next to her. Deep down, she'd been afraid that after they had made love, the effect of the spell would diminish and everything would return to normal; like Cinderella at midnight, she thought she would become plain and meek again, and Derek would wonder how in hell he ever wound up with her.
