Indiana’s House of Representatives approved a bill that would exempt nonunion employees from paying dues when working alongside union workers, a critical step toward final passage.

Democrats boycotted some of the Republican-controlled chamber’s sessions for about three weeks, preventing a quorum. The House passage by a vote of 54-44 sends the bill to the Senate, which already cleared a version. Indiana would be the first state to endorse such a law since Oklahoma approved a similar measure in 2001.

The correct thing to do.

the Era of the Union Mafia is coming to an end

Tennessee business leaders claim "right to work" a success

The legislation bans contracts that require workers to pay mandatory union fees. Tennessee has been a "right to work" state for 65 years. Eyewitness News visited the state to find out what is there for Indiana to learn.

We talked to hard hat union members, hard-nosed economists and hardcore business people. Here's what we found out.

The vast majority of workers have worked all their lives without having to join a union. They say it's not something they think about. It's not an issue.

The people whose job it is to bring more jobs to Tennessee insist "right to work" is among the biggest reasons companies move into the state. Volkswagen recently opened a new assembly plant there, bring an estimated 2,000 jobs.

I understand what those laws do. I don't really have an opinion for or against.

What I don't get is why they're called what they're called. Who didn't have the right to work?

Right to work without paying the communist unions.

anyone risking his or her money must have the right to terminate anyone at will

I know this concept is lost on our left wing GB nuts, mostly because none of them have any money

Right to work without paying the communist unions.

what I will say, I don't think its right that when someone gets terminate because of a personal disagreement. however, the law will protect these people and we have a ton of john edwards lawyers out there looking to exploit people.

union member ship must be option and opt in

those that don't want it opt in, secretly know being in a union is a mental illness

Minimum wage in Indiana: $7.25/hr.

Minimum wage in Ontario, 150 miles from Indiana: $10.25/hr.

and WalMart just cave to the terrorist group known as the union. in Chicago or at the new store in Chicago, they will pay $.50 more per hour.

we need jobs mostly in high tech or skilled areas. why does obama take credit for creating jobs ------at places like Walmart as the jobs obama creates are all low waged ones. Granted, most left wing people have issues saying "Would you like fries with that order?"

So, right of work qualifier qualifier condition qualifier.

Shrug. It's a workplace rule. If you want to work you follow the workplace rules. The government is trying to outlaw a workplace rule. Fair enough. But don't call it something else.

Unless you want collective bargaining rights to be called "right to breathe" next. As in right to breathe while also collectively negotiating wages, benefits and other things with the employer.

Aww. Isn't that just adorable?

rules are meant to be challenged and changed.

give me 1 good reason why union membership must be minatory?

minatory union membership is the same as walking into 3 mile island and taking a swim in the used nuclear rod tank.

Show me where I said that union membership must be mandatory.

Here's how it works in practice with no right to work: If youre union and show up for work with a heavy toolbox, you gotta hire a laborer and teamster to tote your tools from the parking lot to your gang-box. Otherwise you gotta lug the toolbox yourself but you cant use a furniture dolly. There are constant disputes tween unions bout who does what.

Show me where I said that union membership must be mandatory.

you didn't but others have. since you are a believe in socialism and think union membership is a good thing, I want someone to explain to me why union membership must be mandatory?

to me, union membership being mandatory is like making smoking mandatory

sure smoking is good for tobacco farmers but it hams the host, just like union harm the host

what I love, love, love, are the fucked up laws when it comes to trade shows in union fucktard states. only union fucktards can touch your booth, display, lights, this and that. if you need a chair, you have to call the fucktard union to get you a chair. a job that normally takes 1 hr and lets say $50, now takes 3 hrs and costs $500

I'm a believe? Your grammar makes me think you're not all here today.

Also, what makes you think I'm a believer in socialism, if that's what you were trying to say?

I support the right for people to freely associate with one collective without fear of reprecussion or discrimination from another collectiive upon which they are dependent. Like the government, or the employer.

So you agree people should not be forced into supporting unions.

I am shockingly going to agree with you  I know

My father belonged to a union, he hated it

While I agree people should have the right to collective bargain
no one should be forced to be part of the union if they dont want to.

I'm so glad this is over. The commercials were getting on my nerves. Every 5 minutes there was one on. My Bitch Mitch was really going out of his way for this. And I was getting tired of the news screaming about how they might picket the Super Bowl as if that meant a damn thing.
