In your writing, accounting for modern technology in your plots.

One more plot introduced by modern tech -- autocorrect. There has to be many opportunities to exploit the miscommunications created by it. The plot bunnies are reproducing in front of me like, well, rabbits.
Don't get me started on autoincorrect. While getting to know my devoutly Christian lady, we texted until we shut down the internet. I mentioned my collection of "Christain music", which autocorrect silently changed to "Antichrist music". If she hadn't instantly recognized what happened, that would have been a good plot hook for a romantic/erotic misunderstanding story.

Smartphones. Smartwatches. Doorbell cameras. Etc. Modern gadgets and the internet can negate some plot conflicts that would've otherwise existed a decade or two ago.

This turned into a giant, economy-sized plot bunny. I'm 16,000 words into a story about "cameras everywhere!" A sexy troupe of friends and lovers given to casual exhibitionism suddenly have their paranoia dial cranked to 11, with good reason.

I do toss in a "forgot to charge my phone" on a dubcon or reluctance story that requires the POV character to be somewhere dangerous and alone - if you were drunk, late at night, in a bad neighborhood, you'd call for a ride, probably. But then there's no story.

One of my stories had cell phone use as part of the plot - texts from his mother interrupting the sex, and then the cops knew where he was because of his phone.

Never included a Ring doorbell or anything like that, but then, I don't use that kind of stuff. Video of my property is NOT going to the cloud via a corporate entity tyvm. (I work in data privacy.)

I do have to pay attention to pinning the year in my head so I know what makes sense. Pre-2005, unusual for most to have a cell phone. Post-2015, weird enough if they don't that it's worth mentioning.
