I don't know if it is just my bad luck, but I have been trying to find an editor to look at my work. Lost my partner/editor/best friend and have contacted 4 volunteer editors. Each encouraged me to send my work only to never hear from them after they received it. Please help. I have one Romantic and one Reluctance piece for editing. Would appreciate to hear from a volunteer editor who is reliable to edit or tell me that my writing sucks. Thanks.

You might get a better response if you specify the help you feel you need (e.g. grammar only, grammar and continuity, etc.), and its length (in words) as these factors play a large part in a volunteer editor's decision whether to offer help.

Well I disclosed the topic, and what kind of editing I needed. I didnt state how long it was, but its only 3k words. I didn't think that was too long. I hope this doesn't appear to be editor bashing but perhaps these editors could have responded once they received the story and state that it was too long or they didnt have time, acceptable responses. Leaving me hanging is a little unfair. I hope I can find someone to help me out.

I wish people would start naming these editors who did that. It would permit them to clear the air (I've had publisher think they sent me something I never received electronically) or it would give other writers an indication who not to bother with.

In search of a Reliable Editor

I'm a well experienced editor and I can help you in all sorts of ways. Besides that, I'm also a good writer who has been writing for over 20 years, off and on. I don't have anything posted on Literotica yet, but will be doing so shortly. If you'd like to send me your work, I guarantee you'll get it back as soon as I can do so. The reason I can make that claim, is that I am retired and kinda bored at the moment. My own muse seems to have taken an extended holiday to Fiji, or New Zealand, or possibly the Aussi outback. So send me some stuff and let me go over it for you. I like helping other writers, just leave your ego at the door. I'll be blunt, but not cruel, and do my best to make suggestions if I feel the piece need improvement. Look forward to hearing from you.

Thanks Herman. Can you send me a PM or with your contact info? I really appreciate this and let me tell you I accept any and all comments. I just ant to get stories posted.

Herman, turn on your pms please. Thank you.

How about a shorter list. Editors who reply and edit your work in a timely manner. I have five editors that I have sent files to and have not heard back from. One editor removed five commas and missed spelling errors, but I guess beggars can't choose. I am about to go back to self editing and just take the comment beatings. LOL
