From here.
In-N-Out Burger, the extremely popular and fanatically-followed California-based burger chain, has long remained a staple of the western United States.

But on Wednesday, May 11, history was made. The first two In-N-Out Burger restaurants east of Arizona opened up in Frisco and Allen, Texas.

The response has been overwhelming thus far. Many customers camped overnight in the parking lot on Tuesday, hoping to be the first to taste the legendary burger, while others waited for hours in the lengthy drive-thru line, which stretched over two miles during the lunchtime rush on Wednesday
Do they know the secret of ordering the burger "animal-style"? One has not become a true In & Out customer till one starts to speak the In & Out code

I did once. I wasn't impressed. Red Robin is better, IMO. And I can make one at home that knocks the sox off RR, too.

Well, I do love In & Out--for the kind of burger they are. But if I really want a burger-burger, the very best (IMHO), I go for the Cheesecake Factory's Classic Burger.

I don't much like the Cheesecake Factory for anything else, but when it comes to grilling up a burger, they do it to perfection! Thick very juicy, hot off the grill. They even toast the bun. And with the Classic Burger all the condiments come on the side so I can fix it up exactly how I want.

The first time I spoke In-N-Out code was truly amazing.

4x4 animal style, fries well animal style, neopolitan shake.

Cashier rang it up as if it were on the menu, while onlookers scratched confused heads.

Next time I go, I'll get a Flying Dutchman.

You really ought to come down this-a-way and try Fuddruckers. They bake their own buns and grind their own meat and then you take the burger and bun out to the floor and decorate it to your heart's content.

In-and-Out is one of the things I truly miss about SoCal...and Del Taco, and the beach within walking distance, and the weather, and the spanish style buildings, and the old mission, and the spanglish, and.....well, you get the picture.

That was going to be my recommendation. FUDDRUCKERS!!! As their promotional material says, the world's greatest hamburger.

It's always fascinating to catch a glimpse of what every marketeer and publicist has wet dreams about: a guerilla marketing campaign resulting in free word-of-mouth publicity.

Hah! I'm with you guys! Fuddruckers rules! Big ol' juicy burgers, toasted bun, all the dressings you can cram on without unhinging your jaws like a snake while eating it...perfection. :D

Oh God

I miss In -n- Out. I miss it so very, very much.

Damn you, Texas.

Damn you.

If you are in Houston & want a burger so good that it'd make a bishop kick a hole in a stained glass window, go the the Hubcap Grill. My fav is the Philly Cheesesteak burger.

I've had Fudds. It's very good. But if you haven't tried a Cheesecake Factory burger, you really should. It's a whole other level of juicy burger-ness.

I'll also give a shout-out for The Counter. There aren't many of them (slowly growing), but they're quite good.

Drat! All Cheesecake Factory locations are two hours away from me either north or south. When it comes to cool restaurants, it sucks living in the sticks 'cause they're aren't any. :(

And the closest 'The Counter' restaurant is in Miami...three hours away. *sigh*

Ughhhh that sucks on all kind of epic levels :(

I SO miss In-n-out. I've had quite a few burgers from places like fuddruckers, red robin, 5 guys, etc., and they pale in comparison to In-n-Out. In-n-Out ALL the way!!!!

 I'm actually amazed they have one in Florida! I thought they were all in California.

As for the long distance to a Cheesecake factory (2 hours! You are in the sticks!), well, it's something to keep in mind for the next road trip or vacation. If you happen to end up in a spot where there is a CF, then you'll know what to order if you go there--don't get tempted by anything else. The rest of their food, IMHO, ain't so great. They're known for their generous portions not gourmet cooking. Even the cheesecake ain't all that

Ha! I was going the opposite direction.

I think In-N-Out was a letdown because the people who took me pumped it up so much.

Though in my travels I've found 5 Guys and Cook Out to be better. And been so long since I had a Fuddrucker's I've forgotten what they're like.

They gave a few Cheesecake Factories here too (NY/NJ). They were very good, but I still prefer Fudd.

I'm an In N' Out fan, and always will be. Animal style, not tom. Used to do the 4x4 thing when I was younger, but don't eat that much at a sitting anymore. (have gone as high as an 8x8 in days gone by.)

My SoCal comfort foods are Carne Asada burritos, Rubio's fish tacos, Jack In The Box taco's, In N' Out double doubles and Salt n' Pepper Chicken wings from Madarin in Chula Vista.

The one 'The Counter' restaurant is in Miami...none anywhere else in FL...is at the Miami International Airport! I wouldn't fly out of there, much less eat there. If there's a Hell, it's like that airport's terminal and parking lot.

*snerk* A restaurant called The Cheesecake Factory is best known for it's burgers...go figure.

IMO the national chain with the most consistently Christ-awful food is, without a doubt, 'Denny's'. How every one I've ever been in (when I had no choice) can serve the same tasteless crap is beyond me.

Denny's breakfasts are okay, the rest . . . well, just order another breakfast. I've never had one (yet!) but HM advises me that Wood Ranch serves a world class burger. I'll keep that in mind, too . . .

Heh. Well, I wouldn't say that the burgers are what it's known for. What it's known for are huge portions and, yes, a variety of cheesecakes. But if you ask me, the only thing worth eating there are the burgers. It's not that the rest of the food is awful, it's just not anything to write home about. The burgers, however (and again, just my humble opinion) are terrific.

They're the fat-juicy-cooked-over-an-open-flame kind as compared to the often sizzled-on-a-griddle thinner kind. There's a wonderful old fashioned "yum" to that thinner kind of burger isn't there? Done up by some fry cook, layered with condiments and wrapped in paper...the kind you expect to get at some beach shack that's been around since the days when Frankie and Annette where making surf movies :D
