Important - about Christabel

Christabel asked me to come here and tell you folks whats going on before one of her friends starts asking about her.

Last night, she suffered from a severe hemiplegic migraine episode that has left her partially paralyzed down the right side of her body and unable to speak. Though at this time she is still conscious, the doctors fear that she will lapse into a coma as she is unable to tolerate most medications they would offer her. Before the morphine took her under at 3 am this morning she was able to write out some requests for things to be taken care of that she won't be able to do for only God knows how long. Its a funny side note, she taught herself to write with her left hand just in case her right was broken or some such foolishness.

If you are wondering what you can do for her, please be patient with her failings and honor her strengths. I know she has been very upset with recent dealings here and wondering how she could make amends or even correct some gross misassumptions about her and where her heart truly lay. All I can tell you is that despite a rather wicked red-headed temper, she is one of the most generous, forgiving, thoughtful persons I have ever had the pleasure to meet. She can be a little off the wall but her heart truly does beat to a gentle drummer.

And in case you are wondering I have known her since she was 23 years old. I have seen her over come horrible odds and fight incredible battles on behalf of her friends and family. I have seen her writhing with the pain of a shattered spine, and survive beautifully when her children were stolen by her ex husband. She is one of the strongest people I know, and one of the gentlest. She is always telling me about Literotica and the drama's that unfold here. And is quietly proud of her writing accomplishments - this from a woman who was afraid to speak for the first half of her life.

We love her over here, even if she is weird. Please spare a moment to send her warmth and healing energy. We expect her to be home in a few days.

Sincerely, her best friend,
Odessa

Oh, I almost forgot, Whoever VManq is, she was adamant, poor baby , "its in the works, next week too late?"

honestly, I dont know if she will be able to do whatever it is but she is a trooper.

Odessa,
When Christa pulls back out of this be absolutely sure that she understands that the cover she's doing for me is for a novel that will take months to write. She is to concentrate all her energy on recovery!! I'll pass the word to my co-author ASAP. Heck, I haven't even told her that Christa was doing the cover, yet, but we're good for whatever timeframe our lady needs.

Oh God, someone who knows how start a candle thread. Please.

This is heartbreaking. Chris is well-loved here. We've had arguments, and agreements, and laughter and I know how hard she worked on her writing, and how much thought she gave to other people's points of view and their foibles. I know how hard she's fought for her own rights against that pig of an ex. She's family.

I keep checking back, hoping for good news. Doubling my thoughts and wishes.

Courage Christa. If warm thoughts and deep affection from your Lit friends could heal you, you'd be ok by now. :rose:

Good vibes and prayers of healing heading your way sweetie.

Christabel,
You've been incredibly giving with both your praise, and your advice on my writing, and you make so many contributions to our little community here. You're a wonderful colleague and a generous soul. My warmest thoughts are with you and your loved ones. :rose:

Geez. Scary stuff.

Get well. Let it take the time it takes. We'll be here. :rose:

Although I've never spoken to christabell, she and her family are in my prayers.

Odessa, thanks for keeping us informed. We really appreciate your efforts. Prayers for all concerned. :rose:

Please end Christa our love. She and I were only just beginning to know each other, but we took comfort in sharing our beliefs and also our problems. Now that hers have superseded mine so phenomenally, I want her to know how much she is in my thoughts. I'll send her some healing energy when I get some peace and quiet later - tell her to expect it :)

Quick update before I fall over

Well, I can certainly see why she raves about this place. Just reading through these comments and prayers for a speedy recovery is heartening for me to see. I know she will think so too.

It has been one hell of a day. I don't think I ever wanted to punch a man a badly as I wanted to punch her ex. Suffice it to say he marched into her hospital room and dragged the kids from her side. It was horrible. They were tucked up next to her looking so scared and so brave. They listened solemnly to the doctors talk to us, and asked surprisingly intelligent questions. Then when that putz came in. I tell you, he may have fathered her children but that man has lost whatever heart he had somewhere along the line and everyone suffers because of it. Christabel's fiance almost busted something to keep from taking him down. Luckily calmer heads than ours prevailed and he listened to the doctors and his own fiance. They have settled into a local hotel and will be back tomorrow to see if she is improved.

Now the good news: they will if possible take her off the ventilator tomorrow. They have put her on monitors I have never heard of before and though she is helpless its obvious she is fighting.

The bad news: My poor friend, her face is so swollen as to be almost unrecognizable, if not for her long hair and extraordinary eyes you wouldn't know it was her. She could see us, hear us, but is unable to respond except by blinking. Because her veins are very fragile she looks as if she has been beaten, they have blown so many veins already. She is in and out of consciousness, rising only when extreme stimulus is given.

The neurologist, one of the best in the field, assures us that this should be over within the next 48 hours and she will be home again. But, again because she is allergic to so many medicines and their derivitives its very hard for them to treat her. As we can see a new medication nearly killed her this morning. Its a very rare and dangerous form of migraine she has and can be life threatening because it is often accompanied by paralysis, dysphasia, prolonged loss of consciousness and if severe enough coma. She is not quite comatose but sweet jesus its hard to tell the difference when she lies there with machines breathing for her.

I will print off all of your wonderful messages of support and when I see her tomorrow evening will read them to her. I am sure they will make her smile.
Thank you, each and every one of you for such lovely feelings and prayers.
We all know that every little bit helps.

Sincerely,
Odessa
