This would be strictly a waste of everybody's time and energy. I strongly doubt the House will vote to impeach and even if they do, I am certain the Senate will vote to acquit.

One very negative result of such an action by the House could be the GOP doing the same thing. What I mean is that the next time there is a Dem POTUS and a GOP House, impeachment proceedings could very well be started against the POTUS for no reason except tit for tat.

I don't want Trump's impeachment to turn into the Obama era's House's attempts to repeal the ACA; sending dozens upon dozens of articles to only die in the Senate.

As I pointed out in another thread, "Mueller is just about to wrap up and deliver his report within weeks" has been a common, and wrong, narrative for about a year and a half now.

Late last year, the females of "SNL" even did a version of Mariah's "All I Want For Christmas..." with a framed pic of Mueller & references to ending it & "at least convict his oldest son" (or something like that; Bet I'm not recalling verbatim).

As much as I would love to see Trump impeached, I'd much rather see him at a parade in Dallas like JFK.

He wants the Wall so much, let's lie to him like he has done to us. Tell him the Mexicans have agreed to a payment deal, & parade will be held in TX/near border. When he arrives, group is really his exes, pageant contestants, Stormy & Karen, etc...

No impeachment (waste of time due to assassination)!!

I was assuming death in the extreme. I do not wish death on anyone (outside of the fact Trump may accidentally survive &/or not know how to die).

Regardless, those with absolute mental issues are those who would attack us instead of admitting ridding of Trump is right regardless of way.

. . . Which will never clear the Senate. Exactly as designed.

"Progressives," who hate the actual progress of humankind love collectivism. They love the idea of the tyranny of the majority. That you can simply vote someone off the island. But you can't.

It's pretty amazing that the Republicans given the vast number of voters that Democrats have bribed or imported would ever hold the house; big population centers where government giveaways are easier to administer will always create Democrats. Democrats with their complete lack of morals ensure that as their role model Stalin said, "It doesn't matter who votes it only matters who counts the votes. " California managed to add several Representatives after the election, by "finding" votes

. The fact that they did for a time was a bit of an anomaly. That only happens when the Democrats, assume when given what would be the normal course of events predictable control of the house begin to actually exercise that power in what is a center-right country. They can't help themselves but behave as the actual collectivist they are which human nature supports when it applies to the other guy but absolutely no one likes submitting to the collective when it comes to their own ox being gored.

Fortunately, our documents were drawn up expressly to prevent the tyranny of the majority:

Dream on, progressives, dream on.

Your dreams of unachievable Utopia are all you will ever have.

Your timeline is off.

The Democrats want continual and never-ending investigations in order to keep a black cloud over Trump's head as we near 2020 and Mueller will happily play along by investigating every serious charge to come out of the House oversight committees with proper due diligence and his team of Democrat investigators.

They will talk a big game about the impending impeachment to please and placate the radical Progressive wing of their party, but they fear the Clinton effect too, where impeachment blew up in the faces of the Republicans who could not convict; all it did was motivate Democrats and moderates to vote against Republicans (and by way of ancillary effect for Clinton).

Instead, we get a President who failed to win the election (same as "Dubya" failed to do), & then declares a shutdown when one of his key campaign promises fails to get funding (likely largely b/c he lied to everybody multiple times about who would pay for it).

Everything this House passes will be DOA.
They have decided to destroy and marginalize Trump, not to work with him.
In return, instead of rolling over and asking for a belly rub in the usual Republican manner of "compromise," Trump has simply declared, well, okay, then you get nothing either, ever, we control the Senate and I control the veto pen and we'll see you in 2020 as you explain to the independents and moderates why you chose scorched earth policies instead of being wiling to compromise with the other two-thirds of the legislative process.

That seems to be their plan. Pass a bunch of non-sensical bills that are DOA in the senate let alone getting to Trumps desk in order to appeal to their core constituencies in the inner cities. Considering that the majority of our inner cities are barely third world countries I suppose we can call that, 'catering to the shitholes.'

So is the new congress going to go about the peoples business or merely engaged in the US version of political kabuki theater?

Kabuki. They abdicated the throne long ago and gave all the heavy lifting of making law through regulation to the faceless, unelected and unaccountable bureaucracy. Now they exist not to make legislation, but to win elections at any cost.

They will not so much as even attempt to pass a budget anymore and best serve to designate and commemorate important things in our life like national canary day...

;)

... as long as the national canary (day) is alive, there's nothing wrong in the coal mine.

The real ones kept dying in the mines...

Made the workers nervous.

When Congress is in session, for every member, it has now become National "Mine" Day.

Those tax dollars are mine and by extension, members of my family.

They get theirs too...

The Republicans did the same thing to Obama; both teams kick into the wind twice a game.

That’s the problem with the higher levels of play in all endeavors.

At some point, the games become predictable and solely focused on capitalizing on errors.

Makes me wonder if we need more complex games, or simpler ones.

Term limits would go a long way to fix a greater portion of the problem. As you have pointed out it's become a game and the game is preservation of power, personal power and the perq's that go along with it. Oh, and strip them of their juicy retirement plans as well. Make certain they're going to have to live in the world they create.

Will they investigate Nancy Pelosi for bribing her way into the leadership? She promised a lot of positions to get backing.

If public service is a calling and not a career, term limits are the obvious tweak. Makes you wonder why they weren’t there from the beginning.

I think the juicy retirement is fair compensation for lost income opportunities, though as a self employed private sector person, i do know people who have benefits beyond what they have actually contributed. I choose to think of them like disability claimants with atv’s. Cheats.

Well politicians are everywhere the same: they are the new aristocracy, very similar to the one under old king and queen regims: old families with financial empires, ruling for thousand of people etc..

I don t expect much from them anymore...

Of couse and fortunately, i am aware that there are few exceptions.

As Churchill said "democratie is the worst form of government except all those other forms that have been tried from time to time"
