It isn't, but 1) that's not really what you're doing when you call her "Fauxahontas," and you know it; and 2) she didn't "know she did not possess" Native American ancestry at that time. She made a mistake, and she has apologised for it. That alone makes for a nice contrast with Twitler, if you ask me.
There is no evidence that she deliberately misled anyone. She believed - wrongly but honestly, by all extant evidence - that she was of Native American ancestry. (And that 'joke' was still around when I was a college student a decade or so later. I imagine it still is.)
Ask some real Native Americans what they think of calling her that name. I have.
Actually, that's exactly what I was doing. I was mocking a liar. I don't believe it was a mistake. I believe she deliberately lied to her own advantage.
I have asked a (genuine) Native American that and his reaction was in sync with my comment. I'd be as shocked at all NA's sharing that same opinion as I would be to find all Americans voting unanimously for one person.
