Tuesday, William Taylor, the acting U.S. ambassador to Ukraine, delivered closed-doors testimony to Congress that would have promptly ended any presidency in American history prior to this one. Taylor, a pro's pro who Trump's amateur goons really should not have messed with, made it clear that there was indeed an organized, not-very-secret conspiracy to extort the government of Ukraine in exchange for announcing phony investigations into former Vice President Joe Biden, his son Hunter, and Ukraine's alleged interference in the 2016 presidential election.

It was all there — the quid, the pro, the quo, the whole sordid scheme laid out end-to-end and narrated capably by a career foreign service officer who is obviously about 300 times brighter and better than any of the dim bulbs who carried out the extortion scheme. Lawmakers told reporters that there were "audible gasps" of shock during Taylor's opening statement. It's good to know, at least, that on day 1,005 of Donald Trump's corrupt misrule, it is still possible to be made freshly aghast at his contemptible behavior.

In his statement, Taylor says he accepted his May appointment reluctantly, both out of respect for deposed Ambassador Marie Yovanovitch and because he had already heard rumors of an out-of-control Rudy Giuliani freelancing American foreign policy totally outside normal channels. He arrived in Kiev to find that new President Volodymyr Zelensky was vigorously pursuing his reform agenda and that "a new Ukraine might finally be breaking from its corrupt post-Soviet past."

Unfortunately, Taylor discovered that, like with anything that Donald Trump has so much as brushed a shoulder against, U.S. policy in Ukraine had been turned into a hash intended to benefit the president directly rather than either the American or Ukrainian people. You should read the gory details yourself, but to sum up: Taylor quickly realized that a cabal including Giuliani, Ambassador to the European Union Gordon Sondland, Secretary of Energy Rick Perry, and former Special Representative to Ukraine Kurt Volker were carrying out a demented plan to force Zelensky to announce investigations into Burisma (the company Hunter Biden worked for) as well as the Pizzagate-level fever dream that the Ukrainians were somehow hiding the DNC server that was hacked by Russia in 2016, and that on that server is evidence that it was all a Democratic hoax.

No one, Taylor realized, was even being especially coy about what they were doing. Freshly emboldened by Attorney General William Barr's successful blunting of the Mueller Report, Trump and his minions seemed to believe that they could get away with anything.

Taylor noted that in August of 2019, "I became increasingly concerned that our relationship with Ukraine was being fundamentally undermined by an irregular, informal channel of U.S. policymaking and by the withholding of vital security assistance for domestic political reasons." This, of course, we already knew from Taylor's already-released text messages with Volker and Sondland. But Taylor brought the receipts Trump's idiotic wise guys printed out for him.

Trump doesn't give a damn about the Ukraine. And he doesn't give a damn about the United States of America. Trump only cares about Trump.

And he's more than willing to commit crimes in broad daylight if he thinks it will save his ass in 2020. And he will throw anyone to the wolves if they don't aid and abet him in his crimes.

Impeach his ass. It's the right thing to do.

Trump doesn't give a damn about the Ukraine.

Yes, he does, because his master, Putin, wants the Ukraine back in a Russian empire. As Pelozi declared as she pointed at Trump over the conference table a few days ago, with Trump action, "all roads lead back to Russia."

Trump was just exposed for extorting Ukraine's President for "dirt" on Joe Biden. National Security Experts say that this put our country at risk.

Trump's former Campaign Manager confessed under oath that the Mueller Report is SPOT ON when it comes to Trump.

Legal Experts have accused Trump of obstructing justice when he tried to block investigations into his campaign. And Mueller's report backs them up.

So, with Trump, we’ve got a guy who has engaged in extortion, endangered both Ukraine’s national security as well as the national security of the United States of America, AND he’s obstructed justice in an effort to keep his crimes from being brought to light.

If ANYONE in the history of American politics has ever deserved to be impeached it’s Trump!

Our friend Bob pissed in Donald's cornflakes and showed his obstructing justice what, ten times? THe DHS/ICE/BP's kiddy jails are cruel and unusual with out the benefit of due process.
His PQP in the Ukrainegate fiasco is egregious misuse of his power and not very subtle.
But his Kurd capitulation to the Turkish Tyrant just to get him off the phone is fucking the last straw! Even Moscow Mitch finds it hard not to just shoot him on sight!

Resist, Impeach, Convict and Indite on all the charges!

It would seem inevitable that Trump is going to be impeached and convicted. Republican attempts to halt impeachment have been childish and ineffective. Let's take a look at the Republicans childish attempts shall we?

1. Trump called Nancy Pelosi on the phone and asked if he could cut some kind of deal with her and make the impeachment inquiry go away.

2. Trump ordered all former and current government employees to ignore subpoenas issued by the House Intelligence Committee.

3. Trump very publicly complained about the New York Times and Washington Post covering the House inquiry and very loudly, angrily, melodramatically and childishly cancelled his subscriptions.

4. Trump had his lawyers claim that Trump was above the law and that Trump cannot be investigated for any crimes he commits.

5. After all of that failed, a group of Republicans (with Trump's approval) stormed into a closed door session of the House Intelligence Committee, violating national security rules and disrupting testimony of a witness.

All of these are CHILDISH STUNTS and will do NOTHING to prevent Trump from being impeached!

Although, I would like to point out that stunts like this do a lot to drive down the credibility of the Republican party.

And some of these stunts are illegal...like telling witnesses to ignore subpoenas and storming a closed door session of a Congressional Inquiry and shouting down their witness. People go to jail for shit like that.

The Trump administration confesses it has violated its own ethics pledge — multiple times

A governmentwide review has acknowledged for the first time that at least several Trump political appointees violated the administration’s ethics pledge, which was put in place to try to “drain the swamp” by imposing lobbying restrictions and penalties.

The details are tucked away in the Office of Government Ethics’ latest annual report, which attracted little notice when it was released this summer.

These motherfuckers ain't ethical!

Yeah, ever since Nancy Pelosi refused to cut a deal with Trump, Trump and his accomplices have gone the childish route. Mostly they're screaming out childish insults. It's about all they've got at this point.

Perhaps if they weren't such incompetent criminals, Giuliani, Mulvaney and Trump wouldn't have publicly CONFESSED. That's gonna make thing harder on them.

"They have no defense for what Trump did. The tide has turned. And they know it. He will be impeached."

You do realize that if by some miracle President Trump is actually impeached AND convicted, that leaves you with President Pence.

And by all that I've read (and the fact that he is mostly kept in the shadows), Pence embodies what you all foolishly fear about Trump.

Honestly, and this isn't just word play here.

Honestly, if you truly believe that the things you THINK Trump is striving to accomplish are BAD, then you should be PRAYING for Trump to stay in office.

Pence really MIGHT try to overturn RvW, or do the other things your party leaders have told you to believe Trump would do, but has no intention of doing.

I read all this before

Remember reading how impeachment was a done deal because of what was going to be in the Mueller report? Remember what a nothing burger it was? How did the media get so hyper about Russian collusion? It is because it is what they want to believe. How did they get it infused into the minds of people? By leaking little bits and pieces out of context or things that were total fabrications like Adam Shits rendition of the "phone call." So far the information has not been made available to be challenged. Would any of you want to be convicted without being able to first here all the charges, listen to all the testimony against you? Depose witnesses? Bring in your own witnesses? You would be screaming mad if you were legally treated this way. Actually, if your socialistic fantasies come true, you will be treated that way. Don't hold your breath on Trump being impeached. But do keep saying it over and over and over and over. It has been so fun listening to this same crap for two years.

It is possible. I still believe that Trump was destined to lose, to become then front for a media campaign for some truly dangerous forces, and his presidency is a blunder for them, and Pence might be theirs much more directly.

However, consider the timeframes. If Trump is removed, it happens about when, realistically? Sometime next year, right? February? May? August? I don't know the procedures and so, but anyway, it leaves Pence with less than a year in office AND even less for mounting any resemblance of re-election campaign. And, I don't think Trump's voters can be automatically transferred to Pence. Pence vs Warren, could be fun. Sure, he could get some protest vote, probably even few Trump wouldn't again, but still... who knows, of course.

This is one of the reasons why I think no one is actually interested in fast resolution of the impeachment.

Some good points. I've always thought Trump never wanted or intended to win. I think in private he's pissed off that he did.

Still, there won't be an impeachment and if there is it won't go anywhere. This is all intended to keep the dem base pissed off enough to actually vote next year. Nothing more.

Taylor is a Trump hating swamp rat who had his "testimony" destroyed in less than two minutes by John Ratcliffe. Get a clue.

I fail to grasp why the republicans have a problem on the impeachment process. As I understand the enquires currently being undertaken by the congress house committees equates to a grand jury enquiry in the wider community. The republicans are represented on the committee and there are no restrictions on their participation. Grand juries are carried out confidentially, the evidence uncovered is not made public until it is established that there is a case to be answered, or it is established there is no evidence. And that to me seems entirely appropriate. The congress committees will eventually release their evidence. If there is a case to be answered it will go to the senate for a trial where normal rules of evidence will apply.
Why all the fuss. Especially when the process was agreed bi laterally back in 2015.
Feels like desperation.

Go on. Keep your heads firmly implanted in the sand.

"Take the kill shot on Flynn.' (Clapper).

Bwahahahaha.

There's like ten people on these 'Politics' pages nowadays because you imbeciles keep on showing just how ridiculous you all are and shouting everyone else down with your diatribe - and if that's the voting population you are all counting on in the next election, well...

That's a reasoned argument
