Its mystifying to know that when you visit almost every country with different cultures, each has stories and legends of mermaids, dragons, unicorns and the like. The old race once told me that these creatures exist in a parallel world, thats why scientists can never find archaelogical traces of such subspecies. :)

These ARE persistent legends, aren't they?

I had a thought the other day about "What happens to the cocks of castrated men referred to as eunuchs?" It occurred to me this may be part of where the concept of "unicorns" came from...they grow back into a powerful and magical stallion. Interesting idea...there is a story there.
