Wanted to drop in and let folks here know that, although there was no trouble with the border guards, my Master and I suffered a much more serious tragedy while still in Canada, and it will likely be a while before I have time to post here again. See, the car caught fire. Not a little smoke and engine flames thing- the whole car was engulfed. Insurance won't cover it, and we lost nearly everything- including my instruments, some of his armor, and our yurt. (A yurt is a Mongolian roundhouse.)

All my drums were completely distroyed, though, with a LOT of elbow grease and some tender care, I think I might be able to rehabilitate my guitar. We are currently transportless, and have a lot of work ahead of us to replace all that we lost, plus of course, the house is in it's usual shambles of a state that it always becomes when we leave it in our other housemates' care for a few days, so my own workload is about doubled.

I'll get back to y'all when I can.

(Oh yeah- and if you want to help us out, maybe consider buying a shirt? Not the political ones though- I sell those totally at cost.)

Thanks, Snowy...

We'll get through it. I've got a diamond ring I can sell, and we can do without the car for a while, anyways. There was nothing in any of it that couldn't be replaced or repaired, although of course some was extremely sentimental, it's just going to take a little time. It's odd- it suddenly occurred to me that "normal" people don't camp at all like medievalists... They take less, and certainly not their most precious possessions. Exactly the opposite with us, unfortunately. Luckily, we had some very good friends in B.C. who took terrific care of us until we could be gotten home, and they gave us, against all arguements, a little cash to get us started toward recovering. We're in thr process also of trying to find ways to repay them for all their kindness.

Ugh, unfortunate!

Good luck out there, and I hope you can restore some of your instruments.

I'm so sorry. *hugs* I wish I had the money to buy a t-shirt from you. When I get paid, I'll check out your prices, and try and get one.

Thanks to you A/all...

for the sentiments and well-wishes. They mean more than you know right now. (And it's nice to know there are still a few places I can go where people care when I disappear.)

Don't stress about the shirt, grace. I'm just giving the website a little extra push where I can, y'know? I don't sell a lot, so the website's not likely to be a lot of help just now anyways. Still, it's appreciated. Very much so.

God Techno
Glad you and your Master are ok. A terrible thing to have happened but at least material things can be replaced.

You take care and look after yourself

xxxxxxxxxx

That's gonna be tricky recovering that guitar. That's a lot of wood to replace there and it's not gonna have that sweet tone it had. Sorry to hear of your loss. Where in Canada are you stuck?

I'm sorry to hear about the car and all things in it but glad that both you and your master is alright. I hope everything will work out for you.

Sorry about the recent unfortune...uhm, yeah, I'm totally sending your site tomy sis she'll love your work (i hear christmas bells ringing her way...)

Sorry to hear about it :(
But I'm glad that only material things got damaged as opposed to people who are way harder to replace
*hugs*

Luckily, we had friends in Vancouver who were able to rescue us and what was left of our stuff, who gave us shelter/showers/food/company/comfort (and even a small chunk of cash to kick off the recovery!) They picked us up in Chilliwack, BC, and kept us together until a friend was able to come and drive us home. Even more luckily, Master's documents reeked of smoke and were all charred around the edges, so when I said mine were destroyed, they didn't even question us or search the car. It was after midnight, and my clothes were all char-stained, and it was pretty clear we had had more than enough trouble. I guess some US border guards still have a humane streak.

As for the guitar, I know a few guitar-people who adore my music, who might cut me some deals on materials. Also, the body's not really that bad off. All the bracing is still solid, and the bridge is untouched. It's the neck and head I'm more worried about. The machines still work, though they're ugly, but the rosewood fretboard might need to be replaced, along with the frets. (They needed it anyways. :( ) But that's one of the more expensive parts of a guitar, so I shall continue to swallow my pride and shill like a carneywhore. it's worth it. That guitar's been with me since I was 15.

And thank you Teal- that's terrific! Maybe I could just get a few of you to put in good words for me with vanilla shopers you might know. That'd certainly be helpful! Thanks again!

Sorry to hear of the fire.....hope things begin to look up from now on, in a major way. Hopefully, for our own selfish reasons, you won't be gone for long. :rose:

Our thanks again

And to each of you- your words of comfort help a lot to keep our spirits up.
