Will North Korea attack South Korea? I would say quite possibly. Why? We will be quite distracted by the two fronts we are currently fighting on, and they may very well see an opportunity to finish what was started so long ago.

If that happens, the Balkans are just waiting to flre up again, China wants Taiwan, Japan wants it Island back, etc etc etc. Would this be the start of WWIII?

Would you actually call it World War III? WWII was, in many ways, a direct continuation of The Great War. I don't see your scenario as a direct result of WWII.

Still, it would be a war that involved the whole world, so I suppose you could call it something like The Global Conflict or Earth War. Too "Sci-Fi" sounding? I don't know.

Nuclear winter will counteract the global warming.

Things balance out.

Good result.

WWI was onlt called WWI after the start of WWII- until then it was called the Great War, and The War to End All Wars (or was the latter WWII?) While I agree that WWII was a direct resrult of the conditions placed upon Germany at the end of what is now called WWI, I am not conviced that WWII was called that because it was a result of WWI...

But whatever we might call a global conflict that arises out of the mess we find ourselves in, it will suck.

what riles me is that

no-one is prepared for awar on iraq, everyone is against the US, and are pissed off theyll go it alone if necessary

yet with Korea, everyone wants the US to sort it out, without getting their own hands dirty

You aint alone, there's many thousands or British troops in Kuwait ready to go in as well.

The warhead of a long-range missile test-fired by North Korea was found in the U.S. state of Alaska, a report to the National Assembly revealed yesterday.

``According to a U.S. document, the last piece of a missile warhead fired by North Korea was found in Alaska,¡¯¡¯ former Japanese foreign minister Taro Nakayama was quoted as saying in the report. ``Washington, as well as Tokyo, has so far underrated Pyongyang¡¯s missile capabilities.¡¯¡¯

The report was the culmination of monthlong activities of the Assembly¡¯s overseas delegation to five countries over the North Korean nuclear crisis. The Assembly dispatched groups of lawmakers to the United States, Japan, China, Russia and European Union last month to collect information and opinions on the international issue.

The team sent to Japan, headed by Rep. Kim Hak-won of the United Liberal Democrats, reported, ``Nakayama said Washington has come to put more emphasis on trilateral cooperation between South Korea, Japan and the United States since it recognized that the three countries are within the range of North Korean missiles.¡¯¡¯

According to the group dispatched to the U.S., American politicians had a wide range of opinions over the resolution of the nuclear issue, from ``a peaceful resolution¡¯¡¯ to ``military response.¡¯¡¯

*Isn't interesting that both fronts are former "cease fire" violations of U.N. resolutions? Isn't it interesting that those that say it's a unilateral attacks fail to note that only 5 countries are not totally on board? Doesn't sound very unilateral to me.
