If I know you to any degree in so-called real life....phone is dead.

It was malpractice...I decided (incorrectly) that I could replace the LCD portion of my droid. Parts have gotten smaller over the years, my fingers less deft, my eyesight less keen....

Don't bother sending me a text with your number as I live 45 miles from the nearest Verizon store. 180 from any hope of procuring a suitable used droid.

Problem is everyone has an alias here, a different for yahoo, yet another for email, and then there's an actual birth-name or for some a nicely fitted legend with appropriately authentic looking filings somewhere and requisite pocket litter. Because of a bit of officialdom looking just as ridiculous to comply with now as 11 YEARS past, I was giving serious thought to being someone else soon, but not this way!

I have friends that regularly lose/drop/kill their phones..(I mean in the week or two it takes till i see them again) I always wonder why they don't have an old-fashioned name and number register. ~chagrined~ I realize that I used the phone for EVERYTHING, so I have nothing. No bookmarks, no saved passwords, no names, no numbers, no anything.

No need to post here, but a PM would be nice.

Now i gotta either give up some of my 245 pack-rat messages or get to 1000 post, poste-haste as it were.

Out of curiosity, why were you thinking of being someone else? Sorry to hear about phone prob. I learned to back up my phone after I dropped and killed my Blackberry. :(

I am hoping once I find a suitable replacement..(or an asian technician - i thought i had small hands - for my disproportionately large, ahem, ego) ...that alleged backup will work, but i have my doubts.

As far as being someone else. It seems sill to be wedded to a moniker when ones bride wasn't. in addition if thats all it takes to sidestep a bureaucracy intent on reeling me back in when I have deftly avoided them for over a decade., well as the bard said, whats in a name right?

very few people refer to each other by their given name in conversation except smarmy salesman, and if you like your name make it a nickname.

You are a damn brave man. I applaud you for at least trying the feat.

I'm sort of thinking the phone is dead, but a new one (or at least borrowed) with swapped SIM or SDHC card would allow you to find the transient portion of your brain again?

I got my fingers crossed that, while stumbling, all hope is not lost (nor the information you seek).

Sorry, my knowledge is not very strong in this area.
