. . . reading a book.

It was interesting, about relationships.

According to this book/ study the mans five most basic needs in a relationship tend to be:
  • [1]Sexual fulfillment
    [2]Recreational companionship
    [3]An attractive spouse
    [4]Domestic support
    [5]Admiration

While women's tend to be:
  • [1]Affection
    [2]Conversation
    [3]Honesty
    [4]Financial Support
    [5]Family commitment

Though some of the needs in the womans list certainly belong in my personal top 10, I find the mens list surprisingly accurate. I wonder how common this is amongst this group we have here.

The Mailman.

Nah. I'm not overly fond of the representatives of the USPS that I've come across thus far.

I'm always amused when a man tries to write a book that talks about what women like, want, think or feel.

I think the author may be a bit too hung up on stereotypes.

Sexual fulfillment is funny, since it buys into the whole idea that men are somehow more horny than women, which simply is not the case.

Admiration and respect are important, but those are important at both ends of the relationship.

Really, I would think "recreational companionship" and "conversation" would go hand in hand.

I would like to see how the author came to these conclusions.

Ok, so I don't normally follow up on these threads. But read it again folks. These are not all the needs, and they don't claim to be correct for every individual, they are what the top fives tend to be.

Given the context of the sebset of the population we have here, Sexual fulfilment was going to be an obvious inconsistency. But it's an interesting idea, that no one wants to discuss . . .

Unregistered, I gave you the reference, go look it up, it's worth it.

My top five would be
  1. Affection
  2. Sexual Fulfilment
  3. Recreational Companionship
  4. Admiration
  5. Family Commitment
